Teddi Mellencamp has given fans a new optimistic update about their cancer.
The first Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Star first received his melanoma diagnosis in 2022, which advanced to stage four in February and metastasis to his lungs and brain. He underwent a great brain surgery in February that eliminated four tumors, more than doctors expected to find, Mellencamp revealed. Other tumors difficult to achieve cannot be eliminated.
Mellencamp turned to Instagram on Wednesday to share that all his tumors have shrunk. “I have 6 more weeks of immunotherapy, and doctors believe that I will heal if everything remains ongoing,” he wrote in the legend.
Currently, only two more immunotherapy sessions have left before “hopefully I have finished and I will be free of cancer.” Immunotherapy is a type of cancer treatment that uses the body's immune system to combat cancer.
“I will maintain a positive perspective because that is the way my doctor spoke to me. He says: 'You did this, you have this,” said former reality television star.
The news comes a week after she opened why she has not asked her doctors about her survival possibilities during an interview with Night line. “I learned that this is not the best question to ask if you are doing immunotherapy because immunotherapy has only passed around 10 years,” he said.
However, Mellencamp has been given updates about the probability of living in the midst of their cancer treatment.
“One of my favorite things to ask is: 'How long do I have? What are my possibilities?” She continued. “And they often say, 50/50. [I’m like] '50/50! I would not buy a car that only leads a 50 percent chance of time. I don't want this. '”
She said her doctor clarified: “No, it's just because that is the time that immunotherapy has existed, so that is the time that the study has worked.”
Previously in the interview, the star of reality shared how immunotherapy has affected his body.
“I would say that the most difficult thing for me is that I have always been a super active person and, as, I cannot do the things I was used to doing,” he explained, before pointing out that he could barely walk a mile when he is “accustomed to running seven miles” a day.
He also shared another reason why his cancer has been challenging, confessing: “I really like to have control, and this is completely out of my control. And for the first time, I am really scared.”
Last month, Mellencamp told his Instagram followers that more tumors were found in his body after the doctors withdrew more tumors than they originally expected during their surgery.
“Update of my scanning today,” Mellencamp subtitled an Instagram post with a photo of itself. “I have multiple tumors in my brain that could not be eliminated through surgery. I also have two lung tumors. These are metastases of my melanoma.”
He has also opened how he talks to his young children about his cancer. Teddi and her separate husband, Edwin Arroyave, Share Slate, 12; Cruz, 10; and Dove, 5.
“I'm fighting for my life,” he said during an interview with Us Weekly. “But also for the life of my family and all the people I love.”
