“In our relationship, also, having small children again, the gift we gave each other on our last anniversary was that we have to go to the theatre once a month,” she explained. “And we have to go out three times a month and we are not allowed to wear trainers.”
After confessing that she and her husband “got so used to” wearing sneakers and jeans during the pandemic, they have now taken advantage of the opportunity to “dress up” during these dates throughout the month.
“[Like] “I’ll wear a nice dress and I’ll wear heels. He’ll wear a suit or a shirt and proper shoes. Not Gordon’s sneakers,” she said, referring to her partner’s sneakers. “We’ll have a good time together.”
She added that when she and her husband have these nights together, that's when they open up more to each other.
“That’s where we have the best conversations. We go out to dinner and we talk about ourselves, we talk about each other, we talk about the kids, but it’s not just about the kids,” Tana added. “And I think being older parents, we feel like we’re better at all that.”
The longtime couple, who married in 1996, share six children: Megan, 26, twins Jack and Holly, 24, Matilda “Tilly,” 22, Oscar, five, and Jesse, eight months.

“When we finished the project and moved back three weeks ago, everyone had a bedroom again,” she continued. “Everyone has moved house. Holly lives in Nottingham, but she always comes back to London and obviously wants a bedroom with her boyfriend. [swimmer Adam Peaty].”
However, even with a full house, Tana noted that her youngest son, Jesse, can “sleep through the noise.”
Luckily, when someone sneaks in at three in the morning… [and] “The dog barks like crazy, doors slam, he sleeps,” she said. “They really have to revolve around him.”
During an interview with Peoplehe Nightmares in the kitchen The star spoke candidly about what it was like to welcome a baby into her marriage.
“I think I’m a better father the second time around, to be honest,” he admitted. “Tana has always been an amazing mother. But I think if I had to be self-critical, I know I’m better because I have experience now.”
She also added that the age gap between her children has been huge. “I think the second part of this family, with the other two little ones, is in a great position because they are being educated much earlier thanks to their older brothers and are fascinated by their careers,” she explained. “Oscar now understands what a police officer does because his older sister is one, and he is still trying to put on Jack’s green beret.”
