Sydney Sweeney poked fun at a recent rumor that has been circulating online.
On March 2, the Euphoria hosted star Saturday Night Live on NBC, accompanying musical guest Kacey Musgraves. Her debut as host of the live comedy special prompted a brutally honest yet light-hearted and hilarious opening monologue in which she addressed her speculations about herself and her Nobody but you co-star, Glen Powell.
“I'm so happy to be here! My name is Sydney Sweeney. You may have seen me in Nobody but you either Euphoria. You definitely didn't see me in lady web,” she started.
Sweeney later noted, “The craziest rumor I have is that while I was filming Everyone But You, I was having an affair with my co-star, Glen Powell.”
“That's obviously not true. “My fiancé and I produced the movie together and he was there throughout the entire shoot,” she continued. The 26-year-old actress has been engaged to Jonathan Davino since March 2022.
Before the cameras panned to show Powell, Sweeney added: “And I just want everyone to know that he is the man of my dreams, and that we are still together and stronger than ever. He even came here tonight to support me. Can we move on to him?
“That's not my fiancé! He's in my dressing room! But tonight we have a great show for you.” The white lotus exclaimed the star.
Sweeney referenced the cheating storyline later in the show in a brief sketch with Powell. The blonde star took on the role of a woman who goes out to dinner with her “boyfriend”, played by Andrew Dismukes. When Sweeney's date asks how she is doing, the on-screen protagonist makes a shocking confession.
“Oh yeah, I cheated on you with my boss and I think we should break up,” he says as Powell approaches the table.
Powell then asks, “Hey, Babycakes, do you want to get out of here?” Sweeney proceeds to get up and leave with the actor.
Fans online were freaked out by Powell's cameos throughout the night. Some took to X, formerly known as Twitter, and shared their thoughts on the sketch's plot.
“GLEN POWELL DOES NOT APPEAR IN A SKETCH WITH SYDNEY SWEENEY WHERE HE IS THE MAN WHO HIS CHARACTER IS CHEATING WITH,” commented one passionate fan.
Another wrote: “Since he is there, I think they are together. Ha ha ha.”
Last year, romance rumors between Sweeney and Powell began to surface when they were filming in Australia. The fire was fueled when the Set it up The actor confirmed his separation from his girlfriend of three years, Gigi Paris. At the time, Sweeney and Powell were traveling together on the Nobody but you press tour, doing talk shows and red carpet appearances.
Since the speculation began, Sweeney has admitted that she “felt hit” by it all. Meanwhile, Powell said Men's healththe popular wellness outlet, that the rumors were “misleading and unfair.”
