Sonam Kapoor recalls gaining 15 kilos in the first three months of her pregnancy

Sonam Kapoor has opened up about the health issues she faced after giving birth to her son Vayu.

In a recent interview, Sonam Kapoor opened up about everything from childbirth to parenthood and health issues.

Sonam Kapoor embraced motherhood in 2022. The actress and her husband, Anand Ahuja, welcomed their son, Vayu, and since then, the actress has been committed to fulfilling her responsibilities with dedication. The actress frequently spoke about her postpartum experience. Weight gain during pregnancy and losing the extra kilos after giving birth is a big problem for most women. In her recent interview, Sonam shared how it affected her.

In an interview with a magazine, Sonam stated, “I was 36 when I got pregnant and I had to take a lot of progesterone. In the first three months of my pregnancy, I gained 15 kilos. And after that, it just didn’t stop – I was back to my peak weight.” The actress added that she was still acceptable when she was pregnant. But once the baby is born, one expects to get back to her previous physique. But this didn’t happen and it took her a year and a half to get rid of the extra weight.

Sonam further spoke about how body issues have been a challenge, especially because of the industry she belongs to. She expressed, “In this profession, you are constantly scrutinizing yourself, forgetting about other people scrutinizing you. And I have grown up in front of everyone since I was 17 or 18. And I have also seen myself ageing, my body has changed, my face has changed, everything has changed.” She stated that she has always faced “body struggles.”

This is not the first time Sonam Kapoor has spoken about her weight loss journey after pregnancy. A few months ago, the actress uploaded a carousel of pictures of herself on Instagram and wrote about how she balances motherhood and self-care. Sonam also mentioned that she did not use rigorous diets or exercise to achieve quick results. She wrote, “It took me 16 months to feel like myself again. Slowly, steadily, no extreme diets or crazy workouts, just consistent self-care and baby care. I’m not there yet, but I’m almost there. I’m still very, very grateful for my body and how amazing it has been. Being a woman is a wonderful thing.”

Sonam Kapoor has been away from the screen for most of the time since the birth of her son. She now divides her time between India and the UK.
