Sam Thompson and Zara McDermott are reportedly having “crisis talks” about their relationship following a huge row at the Television and Radio Industries Club (TRIC) awards.
He Made in Chelsea star, 31, and love island The 27-year-old contestant began dating in 2019 after Thompson messaged McDermott on Instagram. The pair briefly split the following year when McDermott admitted he had cheated on Thompson while filming. The X Factor: Celebrities but they confirmed that they were back together just a few months later.
Thompson was seen being comforted by his best friend Pete Wicks after breaking down in tears at the TRIC Awards following an alleged disagreement with McDermott on Tuesday (June 25).
A source detailed that Thompson and McDermott's current relationship is struggling Sunstating: “Since Christmas, Zara and Sam have been very busy with work and have had little quality time to see each other and their relationship has suffered as a result.
“They both wanted to make the most of their careers and say yes to all the exciting opportunities that were offered to them.
“Last weekend, things came to a head and they had a huge fight. It was very upsetting and they needed some time to calm things down.”
According to the publication, McDermott left her shared home with Thompson in London to stay with her parents in Essex before flying to Mallorca to work as a model.
While in Spain, the reality star shared a photo with the caption “when life gives you lemons,” which some fans assumed could be a reference to her relationship problems.
The source claimed that McDermott is now back in England and returned home with Thompson to try to “resolve their differences.”
The independent has contacted representatives for Thompson and McDermott for comment.
It comes after Thompson was announced as the show's new host. love island spin-off program titled Love Island: After the sun – last month.
The late-night series is typically hosted by presenter Maya Jama and a rotating panel meets each week to provide insight and analysis on the latest drama unfolding in the villa.
Thompson joined the After the sun panel alongside season eight islander Indiyah Polack, season five islander Amy Hart, All Star contestant Chris Taylor and Rizzle Kicks member Jordan Stephens, who won over fans with his scathing comments when he was a guest panelist last year.
“I was very lucky to find my dream job. It’s pretty impressive,” Thompson said. Digital Spy of his change from reality show to presenter.
