Ryan Reynolds has said modern parents are “soft” on their children as he reflected on the changing dynamics of raising a child.

Reynolds admitted that becoming a father had changed the way he processes his own emotions, saying his own childhood was “a makeshift militia” compared to what his children have experienced.
Talking with For the culture Author Marcus Collins, speaking at the Inbound technology conference in Boston, Reynolds said, “I took a workshop on conflict resolution and it completely changed my life.”
He explained: “I just didn’t know how to process the things I was feeling. Because I… [had a] “When I was younger, I had a scarcity mentality. I didn’t know how to tap into that thing in your brain that conditions you to always win or always be right.”
The proposal The actor said about his children's outlook on life: “I have four children and so far, none of them seem to have that [scarcity mindset]partly because they were born on Easy Street.
“Parents today are very different. We are very gentle. I don’t yell. I grew up with something like… it was crazy, it was an improvised militia.
“Now I can look back at all the parenting resources I have and remind myself how to be perfectly compassionate,” she said.
However, Reynolds has already admitted that he still reaches breaking points with his children.
In 2022, she joked that her three daughters, Betty, Ines and James, are so “wild” that she sometimes thinks they have “rabies.”
“I’m like any parent. Sometimes I have a moment where I lose control,” he said. “The interesting thing is not so much what you do in the moment, but what you do afterwards.”
He Dead pool The actor has also said that he wouldn't be the father he is if it weren't for his wife, who showed him the way.
“Blake, to be honest, really showed me how to do all this,” he told David Letterman on the Netflix series. My next guest needs no introduction.
Asked if he would feel anxious if Lively left him alone to look after the children while she visited her family, Reynolds joked: “First of all, I would never let her go visit her family. No, yeah, that’s illegal. That’s kidnapping.”
Reynolds has previously spoken about his complicated relationship with his father James, who died in 2015 at the age of 74 after nearly two decades of living with Parkinson's disease.
“It really destabilized my relationship with him because I didn't really know what was going on,” the actor reflected.
“[I] She later realized that it was due to the hallucinations and delusions her father experienced years after his diagnosis.”
He continued: “Now that I’m older, I look back and think about it more as my unwillingness at the time to meet him where he was.
“Maybe I could have been with him until the end, but I didn’t. He and I grew apart, and that’s something I’ll live with forever.”
