Ramadan is the holiest month of the year for Muslims around the world. They fast during the day in commemoration of the revelation of the Quran. Sehri and Iftar are very important for Muslims during this blessed month. Sehri is the meal eaten early in the morning before sunrise, which marks the beginning of the fasting hours. Iftar is the meal eaten at sunset to break the fast.

BUTTER CHICKEN RECIPE FOR YOUR MEAL

Here is a quick butter chicken recipe that you can try at home this Ramadan:

Ingredients needed

  • Boneless, skinless chicken breast
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • chilli powder
  • Turmeric
  • Unsalted butter
  • yellow onion
  • spice mix
  • ground cumin
  • Cayenne pepper
  • Ginger
  • Garlic
  • cinnamon stick
  • Ketchup
  • Water
  • Thick cream
  • Cooked rice
  • fresh cilantro

Preparation method

  1. In a large bowl, coat chicken with salt, pepper, 1 teaspoon chili powder, and turmeric. Let it sit for 15 minutes.
  2. Melt 2 tablespoons butter in a large pot over medium heat. Cook the chicken until browned and then remove from the pot.
  3. Melt another 2 tablespoons of butter in the pot. Add the onion, garam masala, remaining teaspoon chili powder, cumin, ginger, garlic, cayenne, cinnamon, salt and pepper. Cook until it smells very good.
  4. Add the tomato sauce and let it simmer.
  5. Pour in the water and cream and let it return to a simmer.
  6. Place the chicken back in the pot, cover, and let it simmer for 10 to 15 minutes.
  7. Mix in 2 more tablespoons of butter and add more salt and pepper if necessary.
  8. Serve the chicken over rice and sprinkle cilantro on top.
