Ramzan or Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. Muslims believe that the Prophet Muhammad received revelations, including the first verses of the Quran, Islam's holy book, during this month. Muslims celebrate this holy month by fasting from dawn to dusk. Fasting is one of the five pillars of Islam, which govern how Muslims should live their lives.

The two Ramzan meals known as Sehri and Iftar are important for every Muslim. Sehri is a morning meal eaten before sunrise. They are then prohibited from eating or drinking water all day until after sunset, when they must break their fast with a dinner known as iftar.

There are established times to eat both meals. Iftar and Sehri timings are crucial to know if you are observing this blessed month.

LAMB CURRY RECIPE FOR YOUR MEAL

It is necessary to eat abundantly after fasting hours and a large meal does not have to be boring. For a hearty and tasty meal, try this lamb curry recipe:

INGREDIENTS NEEDED

Spice mix:

  • black cardamom
  • Mallet
  • Cardamom
  • Cloves
  • Pathar Fool
  • Peppercorn
  • Cinnamon
  • Cumin
  • coriander seeds
  • bay leaf

For curry:

  • Oil
  • bay leaf
  • Cumin
  • black cardamom
  • Cardamom
  • sliced ​​onion
  • Kashmiri chilli powder
  • Coriander powder
  • Kasoori methi (dry)
  • Curd
  • Green Chiles
  • Tomato puree (fresh)
  • chopped cilantro

To marinate:

  • Mutton
  • Salt
  • ginger paste
  • garlic paste
  • Turmeric

PREPARATION METHOD

  1. Put all the spices in a pan and cook over low heat for 2 minutes. Take them out and let them cool completely.
  2. Then, grind them into a fine powder using a mixer grinder. Strain the powder and reserve it.
  3. Combine meat, turmeric, salt and ginger-garlic paste. Mix well and let sit for 10 minutes.
  4. Heat the oil in a deep pan or kadai. Add bay leaf, black cardamom, cumin and cardamom. Stir and then add the onion.
  5. Cook the onions until golden brown, then immediately add the marinated meat and cook for 10 minutes.
  6. Now, add Kashmiri chilli powder, coriander powder, 1 tbsp garam masala powder and kasoori methi leaves. Cook the meat until the oil begins to ooze out the sides.
  7. Increase the heat and add the whipped curd to the mixture. Keep stirring until all the curd starts to boil.
  8. Add the freshly made tomato puree and diced green chilies. Cook until the meat is tender and the oil begins to ooze.
  9. Now add the water, stir, cover and cook over low heat until the meat is cooked. According to your preference, adjust the consistency of the curry.
  10. Take out and serve hot with chopped cilantro on top.
