Ramadan is considered a special time of year for Muslims. This period is for prayer and forgiveness for Muslims around the world. The true essence of Ramadan lies in the fact that people pray for forgiveness of all their past sins by practicing self-control through fasting and purifying themselves through good deeds. During Ramadan, almost all Muslims fast from dawn to dusk, breaking it only after sunset. This year, Ramadan began on March 11 and is expected to continue for 29 to 30 days, concluding with Eid-ul-Fitr.

During the night, Muslims break their fast by having dinner together, known as Iftar. People tend to enjoy a variety of foods and among them, fruits are also very popular. It has been found that the price of fruits has increased, especially during the time of Ramadan.

After breaking their intense fast, Muslims choose to eat lots of fruits. The supply of different types of fruits has been increasing in Rampur, Uttar Pradesh. According to local fruit sellers, it has been found that watermelon remains the preferred and appreciated fruit for breaking the fast. A merchant also revealed that his store sells more papaya, grapes, guava, mango and desert melon.

The price of these fruits ranges between Rs 80 and Rs 100 per kg. The trader also added that in the holy month of Ramadan, along with local fruits, foreign fruits are in high demand in the market. Pakistan's juicy safeda is being highly appreciated by common people. Normally, the price of the fruit is around Rs 150 per kg, but during this period it is sold at Rs 180 per kg.

Another watermelon seller has revealed that during the month of Ramadan, people buy watermelons a lot. This is mainly because watermelons are quite juicy and sweet, which also compensates for the lack of water in the body. The price of watermelon ranges between 25 and 30 rupees. Apart from that, oranges and grapes have also been in high demand in the market.
