Priyanka Chopra celebrates Diwali in New York with a soulful desi menu curated by chef PriaVanda Chouhan
For many Indians living abroad, Diwali is as much about the flavors of home as it is about the lights and celebrations. Priyanka Chopra Jonas's Diwali lunch in New York beautifully captured that feeling, a feast of nostalgia, warmth and festive indulgence.
Hosted by Priyanka in collaboration with chef PriaVanda Chouhan of Desi Galli, the lunch was a joyful celebration of Indian cuisine with a modern twist. The star's menu brought together crowd-pleasing street food favorites and comforting home-cooked dishes, all curated to appeal to both adults and children.
The meal started with a tempting array of starters, Mini Kathi Rolls, Chicken Nuggets with Desi Dip, Bombay Sandwiches brimming with melted cheese, Masala Fries, Papdi Chaat, Bhel Puri and Chilli Paneer Bites. Each plate offered a bite of India's rich culinary tapestry, served in elegant, party-friendly portions.
The main course was a delicious mix of comfort and creativity. For little guests, there were macaroni and cheese cups, mini pasta bowls, butter chicken sandwiches and veggie pizza squares, a perfect balance of familiar flavors and Indian flair. Meanwhile, adults savored more traditional options like Kathi Roll Platters, Hakka Noodle Cups, Butter Chicken Curry and Paneer Tikka Masala, each dish a celebration of bold and comforting spices.
One of the highlights of the afternoon was the Mini Dosa Live Station, designed especially for children. The interactive counter allowed them to choose from three dosa bases – plain (vegan, gluten-free and nut-free), cheese and soft potato – and customize their toppings. Options included extra grated cheese, ketchup or mango ketchup, sweet corn, coconut or mint chutney, paneer bhurji and crispy sev. It was the perfect fusion of fun and flavor.
No Indian celebration is complete without something sweet, and Priyanka made sure her guests ended on a high note. The dessert table featured Gulab Jamun Cheesecake Bites, Brownie Bites with Rabri Drizzle and Cake Pops, accompanied by refreshing mango lassi shakes and strawberry milkshakes.
True to her roots and her love of food, Priyanka Chopra's Diwali lunch wasn't just a meal, it was a touching reminder of home, shared joy, and the simple pleasure of festive togetherness.
