Princess Anne's husband breaks a coconut for luck in a Hindu temple | Lifestyle

The Princess Royal donned a flower garland and a glittering gold scarf as her husband banished bad luck by breaking a coconut on a visit to a Hindu temple in Sri Lanka.

The Princess watched as Vice-Admiral Sir Tim Laurence tossed the fruit to the ground, sending a stream of coconut water onto the nearby press, and raised her hands in amazement.

The couple received a rapturous welcome when they arrived at Vajira Pillayar Kovil, a Hindu temple in Sri Lanka's capital, on Thursday (January 11) to receive a blessing from the head priest.

They also each received a pottu in the middle of their foreheads during their visit.
