Prince Harry has spoken of his excitement about turning 40 on Sunday as he plans to celebrate with his family in California before heading off on holiday with his closest friends.

He told the BBC: “Whatever age I am, my mission is to keep showing up and doing good in the world.”

The Duke of Sussex added that becoming a father to his two children, Archie, five, and Lilibet, three, had given him a “new outlook on life” and made him more committed to making the world a better place.

Reports suggest Meghan Markle could be returning to the UK after receiving an invitation to the home of Harry's uncle Earl Spencer for Christmas.

Meanwhile, his 11-year-old nephew, Prince George, is following in his father's footsteps and learning to fly – with reports suggesting he took his first flight on the last day of his summer holiday.

The future king reportedly “loved” his maiden flight, as Prince William and Kate watched from the runway at White Waltham Airfield near Maidenhead.

Harry remains estranged from his brother, the Prince of Wales, as evidenced by the fact that the brothers reportedly did not speak to each other at a family funeral last month.

William and Kate donate to food bank after thieves raid their warehouse

The Prince and Princess of Wales have made a donation to a south London food bank after thieves raided their warehouse.

Workers arrived at Southwark Foodbank's warehouse in Peckham to find empty shelves after thieves stole thousands of pounds worth of goods in the early hours of Sunday, the food bank said.

William and Kate donated £3,500 to the charity Pecan after learning of the theft, which will cover the costs of the stolen goods and damage caused, the food bank added.

Peter Edwards, Pecan's chief executive, said: “This surprise donation from the Prince and Princess of Wales, following such a difficult period for their family, underlines their kindness and decency.

“After suffering a serious illness, his first thought was how to help others.

“Your generosity will inspire staff and volunteers to redouble Pecan’s efforts to alleviate poverty in London.”

Prince William warns of 'future threats' to UK during RAF speech

The Prince of Wales told the new RAF officers that the country will rely on them to deal with “future threats” during the current “time of change and uncertainty”.

William was speaking at the graduation ceremony for more than 50 officers who completed their training at the Royal Air Force College Cranwell.

The prince knows RAF Cranwell in Lincolnshire well, having trained at the airbase, flown solo for the first time and then received his wings from his father during a ceremony in 2008.

He remained in the RAF for much of his active military career, later moving on to fly as a helicopter pilot in the RAF Search and Rescue Force before becoming an air ambulance helicopter pilot.
