Prince Harry has spoken of his excitement about turning 40 on Sunday as he plans to celebrate with his family in California before heading off on holiday with his closest friends.
In a statement to the BBC, she said: “Whatever age I am, my mission is to keep showing up and doing good in the world.”
He added that becoming a father to his two children, Archie, five, and Lilibet, three, had given him a “new perspective on life” and made him more committed to making the world a better place.
Meanwhile, his 11-year-old nephew, Prince George, is following in his father's footsteps and is already learning to fly – with reports suggesting he took his first flight on the last day of his summer holiday.
The future king reportedly “loved” his maiden flight, as Prince William and Kate watched from the runway at White Waltham Airfield near Maidenhead.
King Charles gave a rare update on his health during a meeting with the New Zealand women's rugby team at Buckingham Palace on Wednesday.
The 76-year-old monarch, who announced in February that he had been diagnosed with an undisclosed type of cancer, expressed regret at not being able to visit New Zealand also when he travels to Australia and Samoa next month.
Forty photographs to commemorate Harry's 40th birthday
The Duke of Sussex turns 40 on Sunday.
In a statement to the BBC, Harry said he was “thrilled” to reach the milestone, adding: “Whatever age I am, my mission is to keep turning up and doing good in the world.”
Forty photographs have been compiled, one for each year of Harry's life, to mark the duke's entry into his fifth decade.
The images, gathered by the PA news agency, show the transition of the youngest son of the King and the late Diana, Princess of Wales, from newborn baby to cheeky toddler and beyond.

Prince George receives his first flying lesson
Prince George is reportedly already learning to fly and made his maiden voyage on the last day of his summer school holidays.
According The sunThe future king “loved” his first flight, which took place at White Waltham Aerodrome, near Maidenhead.
Reports suggest the Prince and Princess of Wales watched the 11-year-old boy take off from the runway with an instructor and return to land safely just under an hour later.
The three royals were then said to have relaxed in the airfield's clubhouse before returning to their Windsor home.
An eyewitness told the paper: “George is only 11 but the time is right to start. The Royal Family has a proud tradition of flying and it looks like George is next in line.
“His parents watched George take off from the safety of the ground, but he flew with an instructor and loved it.”

Prince Harry reveals he's 'excited' about his 40th birthday

In a statement to the BBC, Harry said he was “thrilled” to reach the milestone, saying: “I was looking forward to 30, I'm excited for 40.
“No matter how old I am, my mission is to keep showing up and doing good in the world.”
The prince also spoke of the importance of his children, Archie, five, and Lilibet, three.
“Becoming a father to two incredibly kind and funny children has given me a new perspective on life, as well as sharpening my focus on all my work,” the prince said in a statement released by his spokesman.
“Being a father is one of life’s greatest joys and has only made me more motivated and committed to making this world a better place.”

Royal author Ingrid Seward said the former actress is good at sticking to her decisions, no matter the consequences.
She said GB News“I don’t think Meghan regrets anything. She doesn’t seem to regret never speaking to her own father, but I still find that very strange.”

Prince William stresses the importance of 'multinational relations' in international defence
Prince William today highlighted the importance of “multinational relationships” in international defence during a speech to graduates of the Royal Air Force College in Cranwell.
“However, I want to take this moment to highlight not only the importance of your achievements to date, but also the role you will play in supporting the future of your countries’ air forces.
“I say ‘their countries’ because I know that, in addition to our new Royal Air Force officers on parade today, there are also officers from Jordan, Kenya, Pakistan and Uganda.
“Multinational relations are key to international defense, security and peace.
“The relationships they have formed through training will be instrumental in enabling them to achieve success in future roles and enhance the security of all our nations.”
William is a graduate of Lincolnshire Foundation and received his “wings” in 2008.

King Charles thanked the New Zealand women's rugby team for surprising him with a hug yesterday at Buckingham Palace.
“I really appreciate this opportunity to meet you and receive a warm hug from most of you,” he said before adding: “very healing.”
During the meeting, the King expressed his regret at not being able to visit New Zealand in the near future “on medical orders”.

Prince William warns of 'future threats' during RAF speech
Prince William warned of the possibility of the UK facing “future threats” during a speech at the Royal Air Force College in Cranwell today.
The 42-year-old heir to the throne said: “We live in a time of change and uncertainty, and you, as the future of the Royal Air Force, are the ones who will ensure we are able to adapt and meet future threats.”
William himself is a former search and rescue pilot.
