Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will visit Colombia for four days following the success of their unofficial tour of Nigeria, after declaring that the UK was too dangerous to visit.
Harry, 39, said he would not bring Meghan back to his home country without personal state-funded security because he fears a “knife or acid attack.”
The couple was invited to Colombia by Vice President Francia Márquez, but the exact details of the trip, which they will make in their capacity as private citizens, are not known.
While the trip is not a real tour, it will serve a similar purpose, and Ms. Marquez said the visit will “shine a light on Colombia’s role as a beacon of culture and innovation.”
Colombia, which has more than halved its homicide rate since its peak in the 1990s, continues to struggle with crime, kidnappings and civil unrest.
This comes after a friend of the Duke claimed that Harry's calls to King Charles “are being answered”. People journal reports.
Harry, 39, has not seen the monarch since the announcement of his cancer diagnosis in February.

The 73-year-old Princess Royal had to temporarily step down from her duties after she was kicked by a horse, an incident that left her with concussion and minor injuries.
The royal family's official Twitter account wrote: “Wonderful to visit the Olympic Village to cheer on the athletes competing in the @Paris2024 Olympic Games!
“As President of the British Olympic Association, The Princess Royal has attended events at the Games this week.”
Anne herself is a former Olympian, having competed in the equestrian category at the 1976 Games in Montreal.

The trip comes ahead of the first-ever Global Ministerial Conference to End Violence against Children, which will take place in November, although the exact dates of the trip are not yet known.
They are scheduled to spend four days in the country carrying out activities related to the conference's goal of creating a “comprehensive framework for creating safer physical and digital spaces, addressing issues such as cyberbullying, online exploitation and the impacts of these threats on mental health.”
The visit will be conducted in the capacity of private citizens by the couple, although it will reportedly have many of the hallmarks of a royal tour.

How dangerous is Colombia?
However, the risk for tourists is low, according to various travel agencies, especially in major cities such as the capital Bogotá, which the royal family will visit.
But the UK government has taken a different stance and has advised against all but essential travel to the country, citing the high prevalence of kidnappings.
News of the trip comes after Harry recently said he will not bring Meghan to the UK because he fears an acid or knife attack inspired by negative tabloid stories.

Prince Harry describes the internet as 'scary' in new interview
Harry said: “At this point we have reached the stage where almost every parent needs to be a first responder, and even the best first responders in the world would not be able to spot the signs of a possible suicide.
“That’s the scary part of this.”
The couple is taking part in a new initiative to support parents of children affected by the problem.

Vice President Francia Márquez will travel with the couple on the trip, which is expected to last about four days.
Ms Marquez said in a statement: “During their trip, the Duke and Duchess will join me in visiting Bogotá, as well as the Caribbean and Pacific regions of Cartagena and Cali.

Harry and Meghan will visit Colombia on a new unofficial tour
While this is not a real tour, it will have many of the hallmarks of one and Vice President Francia Marquez said the four-day visit will “shine a light on Colombia’s role as a beacon of culture and innovation.”
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will visit as private citizens after stepping down as working royals in 2020, citing media intrusion and a desire to live a more independent life.
During the visit to Colombia, they are expected to meet with young people and youth leaders.
They are expected to visit the capital Bogotá and the regions of Cartagena and Cali.
This comes after the couple's recent unofficial tour of Nigeria earlier this year, which celebrated the 10th anniversary of Harry's Invictus Games.

Prince Harry wants children to feel “at home” in the UK
The Duke of Sussex, 39, told a High Court hearing: “The UK is central to my children's heritage and a place I want them to feel at home, just as much as where they currently live in the United States.
“That cannot happen if it is not possible to keep them safe when they are on British soil. I cannot put my wife in danger in that way and, given my life experience, I am reluctant to put myself in unnecessary danger as well.”
Harry was stripped of protection after stepping down as a senior royal in 2020.

For the first time in 30 years, there were no royals at the Sandringham Flower Show
Graham Brown, chairman of the event, said: “It is disappointing that the King has prior commitments but people are here to see the spectacle.”
This comes amid King Charles' vision of a drastically reduced monarchy in light of the UK's current economic challenges.

Why does Prince Louis stay out of the spotlight?
Now, a royal expert has weighed in on why six-year-old Louis is staying away from the spotlight – and it's not because of his mischievous behaviour.
Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams told the Express:“Obviously, Prince George is chosen for certain events because of his age and status.
“It is clear that Charlotte is also one of them. Louis is the youngest and William and Catherine are careful to maintain a balance between privacy, which is essential, and the obvious desire to see all their children.”
He added: “The younger the children are, the more likely they are to make funny faces and steal the show. The press loves this, but it is a distraction from the main event.”
