The IOC and content producer Prajakta Koli are collaborating on the Let's Move and Marathon Pour Tous campaign for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has partnered with prominent Indian content creator, actress and climate activist Prajakta Koli for its ground-breaking Let’s Move initiative. In a remarkable feat, she will participate in the Marathon Pour Tous during the Olympic Games on 10 August 2024 for a unique evening race. The 10-kilometre race will establish Koli as the first Indian content creator and the only non-sports-related Indian celebrity to partner with the IOC this year.
Koli, better known as “MostlySane”, will leverage her massive social media following (over 17 million) to inspire young Indians following the Olympic Games. Through this innovative partnership, she will promote the themes of sportsmanship, equality and sustainability, and celebrate athlete excellence on the world’s biggest sporting stage.
Prajakta Koli, who recently made her theatre debut with the play ‘External Affairs’, expresses her excitement and says, “I am absolutely thrilled to be associated with the Olympics. The games represent the pinnacle of human potential, dedication and the pursuit of excellence. I can’t wait to use my platform to share my experience and ignite the passion for sports and wellness in my audience, especially among the youth across India. It’s time to move more, every day, anywhere, in any way!”
As part of this pioneering partnership, Koli will promote the Let's Move Olympic initiative, launched last year in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO). This initiative highlights the positive impact of sport on physical and mental well-being. This year, for the first time in Olympic history, a mass participation race, the Marathon Pour Tous (Marathon for All), will be held during the Games, with more than a couple of thousand runners taking to the streets of Paris.
This partnership marks an important step in the IOC’s efforts to connect with younger demographics and expand the reach of the Olympic Games in India, a nation with a growing sports fan base. In addition, Let’s Move and Celebrate directly contributes to Olympism365’s priority area of “Sport, Health and Active Communities,” which focuses on ensuring that more people, from more diverse backgrounds, can enjoy the mental and physical benefits of participating in sport and physical activity.
