Photographer says Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding was a “miserable day”

A royal photographer has opened up about what it was like taking the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's wedding photos.

In a recent interview with Sun, Photographer Arthur Edwards explained that six years after Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's wedding, he can now admit that the wedding was “miserable” for him.

“That day was miserable,” Edwards told the interviewer. “Now I can tell you that it was the worst royal wedding I have ever had. Because Harry was determined to keep the newspapers away as much as possible.

The couple's wedding took place in 2018 at St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle, where Edwards noted that all photographs had to be taken remotely, which did not allow for the best working conditions.

“Everything was done with long lenses. It had an 800 millimeter lens to photograph arriving guests. The photographers they hired for the job were five feet away. It was just useless,” she said.

Even the iconic photo of the couple leaving the wedding in their carriage didn't work from a camera and photography perspective. “And then the carriage shot when they passed me in the carriage they looked the other way,” she recalled. “So for me it was a disaster.”

The interviewer asked Edwards if any of these obstacles were done on purpose and he said, “Was that deliberate? Did they make you feel unwelcome?

“I felt that way,” Edwards responded. “It wasn't just me. “It was the entire British press that in many ways was mistreated.”

The independent A representative for the Sussexes has been contacted for comment.

Before her royal wedding, Meghan was married to film producer Trevor Engleson from 2011 to 2014. Before the wedding, many were curious about who would design the Suits actress dress

“She had a very clear vision of what she wanted for the day and what she wanted the dress to look like, and the amazing thing about working with Clare is that sometimes you'll find the designers trying to take you in a different direction. “Meghan said of the dress designed by Clare Waight Keller for Givenchy in her Netflix docuseries. Harry and Meghanreleased in December 2022. “But she just completely respected what I wanted to see that day and wanted to bring that to life.”

“So from the beginning I knew I wanted a bateau neckline, I wanted a short sleeve, I wanted a classic, timeless feel,” she said. “Obviously, with respect to the environment we were in and St. George's Chapel, being very modest in what it would look like, I knew the tailoring was key, because the dress itself would be very covered.”

The dress ended up being styled in an off-the-shoulder style. Recently, it was revealed that the late Queen Elizabeth II did not approve of the dress at the time. According to royal biographer Ingrid Seward, the late monarch thought he was “too white” for a woman to marry a second time.

“In the opinion of the monarch, it was not appropriate for a divorcee remarrying in the church to appear so extravagantly virginal,” Seward wrote in an excerpt from the book obtained by the daily mail.
