Nicola Peltz has shared a touching tribute to her dog, Nala, who passed away suddenly after a routine grooming session.

Peltz was comforted by her husband Brooklyn Beckham as the pair were photographed at the pet's graveside with their arms around each other.

The billionaire heiress and actress has reportedly filed a lawsuit against the dog groomer, whom she believes is responsible for the Chihuahua's death, sharing a TMZ report about the filing that alleges the groomer had a history of animal abuse.

“I am truly still in shock and grief over the sudden passing of my baby Nala last month after what should have been a routine grooming session,” the 29-year-old wrote in the post.

“I posted the experience on my Instagram to raise awareness and it broke my heart to hear the horrific stories of so many other people who have experienced the same tragedy,” she continued. “I can’t stand it. It makes me sick to hear how common stories like Nala’s are.”

She added: “We need to improve and change laws to better protect fur babies and the loving owners who care for them. Our pets are the family we choose.”

She previously described Nala's death as the “hardest month of my life,” explaining the circumstances surrounding the event in an Instagram post in June, alongside photos of the pet.

“I can’t even find the words to describe my pain on so many levels,” she wrote.

“Nala was perfectly healthy when she went to the groomer yesterday, but she came out hyperventilating and couldn’t catch her breath.

“We rushed her to the vet and she passed away hours later. I am sharing this in hopes that it can prevent this from happening to other dogs. Her life was taken too soon. She was my beautiful queen and she was by my side for nine years through it all.

“Be careful who you send your dogs with because you don’t know what goes on behind closed doors. A day without Nala on earth feels like an eternity. I wish I could hold her in my arms again. I pray she is with my nanny.”

Peltz filed a lawsuit against New York dog grooming company HoundSpa LLC on Tuesday (July 30) in New York State Supreme Court in Westchester County. According to the filing, obtained by Peopleclaimed Nala's death was caused by alleged “intentional and malicious dog abuse” by groomer Jony Ceballos.

The model also took action against HoundSpa owner Deborah “Deb” Gittleman for “reckless and malicious conduct” after keeping Ceballos on staff despite an alleged “history of complaints” about his behavior toward animals.

The emergency vet reportedly observed that the Chihuahua had “fluid in her lungs” and “suffered neurological damage.” The lawsuit also details the “emotional distress” Peltz-Beckham has allegedly experienced since witnessing Nala’s death.
