Influence. But the style gods who walk among us don't fit a desired job or salary; they do it as a statement of who they want to be when they make moves. They dress according to the place they are going.

Each style capital has its own personality, with interlocutors making fashion decisions that play with the specific energy of their environment. Cities have unique ways of facilitating interactions and residents choose to introduce themselves based on their relationship to the choreography of the day. The New Yorker leaves the house dressed as if he were prepared for anything. An Angeleno prepares thinking about the light.
