Miley Cyrus criticized the paparazzi for how they took photos at the 2024 Grammy Awards.
The 31-year-old singer hit the red carpet on February 4 after receiving six Grammy nominations. Once the night came to a close, she walked home with her first Grammy Awards: Record of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance, both for her hit song, “Flowers.”
When Cyrus first arrived at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, she wore a sheer metal gold dress by Maison Margiela, paired with a curly updo and hairdo and jewelry by Tiffany & Co. However, as she posed for photos at the red carpet, was a little surprised to see that some of the paparazzi weren't using cameras.
“iPhones?” she said, before comically moving her eyes to scan the room. “What's that?” The video then continued with the Disney Channel veteran posing and smiling for the paparazzi.
On social media, many fans have praised Cyrus' candid reaction when paparazzi used their iPhones to take photos at the event, instead of professional cameras.
“LMFAO! Miley said, 'What is this, honey? An iphone? Girl, put your shoes on. Let's buy you a camera,'” one joked.
“'iPhones?' “I’m crying and she asked me where the professional CAMERAS are,” another added.
A third tweeted: “Miley Cyrus has a way of turning anything, even a technological mix-up, into comedy gold. One wonders if she missed her calling as a comedian, especially in an era when everyone is glued to her iPhone cameras pretending to be [Steven] Spielberg.”
On February 4, Cyrus started the evening by taking home her first Grammy Award. She also had the opportunity to perform her hit song, “Flowers,” during the show, and made a slight change to the lyrics to celebrate her achievement. “I started crying and then I remembered I had just won my first Grammy!” she sang.
However, early in the performance, he struggled to get the crowd back on their feet for his breakup anthem, asking as he sang, “Why do you guys act like you don't know this song?”
Later that night, the “Wrecking Ball” singer took home her second award for Record of the Year. During her acceptance speech, where she wore her fifth outfit of the night, she expressed her gratitude for both the award and all the opportunities she has had in her career.
“This award is amazing. But I really hope nothing changes because yesterday my life was beautiful. “Not everyone in the world is going to get a Grammy, but everyone in this world is spectacular,” he said, before joking, “So please don't think this is important, even though it is very important, right, guys?”
Shen then thanked some of the important people in his life, including his production team and his mother Tish Cyrus, before making a joke about something he forgot to do that night.
“I don't think I've forgotten anyone. But I may have forgotten the underwear. “Bye!” she concluded, as she wore a sparkly one-shoulder dress with a high slit.
