Michelle Obama took her power dressing to the next level at the Democratic National Convention on Tuesday night.

The former first lady appeared on stage in a sleeveless, deconstructed navy suit by Monse paired with matching silver earrings and a sleek braided updo. World Water DayObama's look was from the brand's Resort 2025 collection, which Monse co-creative director Fernando Garcia explained was inspired by science fiction and aliens.

The brand, founded in 2015 by Garcia and Laura Kim, has long counted Obama as a fan. The former first lady previously wore a black and white Monse dress to the opening of the National Museum of African American History and Culture in 2017.

Delivering a speech in his native Chicago, Obama cemented his position as one of the most popular and powerful voices in the Democratic Party, sporting his trademark dapper appearance.

On X, social media users praised her chic look for the Democratic National Convention, with many highlighting her ability to pull off look after look throughout her post-White House style.

“Michelle Obama’s fashion game after leaving the White House is always on point,” one person wrote.

“I don’t care what your political views are, Michelle Obama’s DNC outfit is next level,” another person noted.

“That dress Michelle Obama is wearing is just gorgeous,” commented another.

“Michelle Obama is out there looking like the absolute queen that she is,” someone else praised the former first lady. “That dress is *chef's kiss*. QUEEN! QUEEN!”

Some people took to social media to ask who designed the former first lady's gorgeous outfit.

“Social media person: stop mentioning the designer of the dress. Please,” another commented, while another added: “I NEED TO KNOW WHO MICHELLE OBAMA IS WEARING IMMEDIATELY WOW!”

There was no shortage of inspiring fashion moments at this week's Democratic National Convention.

On Monday, First Lady Jill Biden paired a lilac double-breasted blazer by Ralph Lauren with sleek white trousers, and later dazzled in a bright blue dress by the same designer. Wearing Lauren’s designs, she patriotically highlighted American creativity and talent.

Later that evening, Vice President Kamala Harris took the stage in a chic two-piece Chloé suit in coconut brown. The tan hue references Harris’s infamous speech, in which she quotes a proverb her mother used to tell her when she was a child.

“Do you think you just fell out of a coconut tree?” he said at a White House swearing-in ceremony in May 2023. “You exist in the context of everything you live through and everything that came before you.”

Harris's decision to wear a brown suit is also reminiscent of 2014, when then-President Barack Obama received swift backlash from conservatives for wearing a suit of a similar color. At the time, many pundits claimed that her brown suit was “inappropriate” and demonstrated her unfitness for office.
