Man sparks outrage over tips he was asked to collect during haircut

A man sparked outrage after revealing the high tips he was asked to choose while paying for his haircut.

In a Reddit post shared on a forum subreddit, “EndTipping,” the individual shared a screenshot of the tablet that was presented to him, while asking “how much to tip for a walk-in haircut.” According to the image on the device, the man paid $15 for the haircut and had three main tip options to choose from.

The screen showed that I could choose to tip 50 percent, which was $7.50, 70 percent, which was $10.50, or 90 percent, which was $13.50. You could also choose to make a custom tip amount or not tip at all.

In the comments of the post, many people have shared their surprised reactions about how much the customer was advised to tip. They also detailed how they would have reacted to seeing such a high tip.

“That's the craziest thing I've ever seen, I wouldn't tip just because of the options they gave me and I would never go back,” one wrote.

“I don't offer tips when I see unreasonable tip requests. That's embarrassing,” another added, while a third wrote: “If the options are 50 percent, 70 percent or 90 percent, then the only answer is not to tip.”

Other people shared their opinions on how much they tip their hairstylists (whom they're longtime fans of) during their salon visits.

“I give $5 out of $25, but that's only because I've been going to the same lady for 20 years. She cost me $15 a year,” one wrote. “She always gives me a Christmas gift of similar value. So she actually she is not a tip.”

“My hairdresser charges $25 and I tip him $10 every time. That man works, he is a detail-oriented man, he knows what I am looking for and I want him to be happy that he is in the workshop,” added another.

Over the years, there has been an ongoing debate over Americans' tipping practices, as people have been urged to leave tips in self-checkout lines at airports, supermarkets, stadiums, and coffee shops. speaking to Very easyInternational etiquette expert Sharon Schweitzer recommended tipping salon hairdressers at least 20 percent.

In New York it is customary to leave between 15 and 20 percent of the total bill before including taxes. Others insist on tipping 20 percent, but some say 18 percent is the bare minimum. Meanwhile, food place Diner He confidently stated that you should always leave a 20 percent tip, no matter where you dine.

Diane Gottsman, national etiquette expert, author and founder of The Protocol School of Texas, previously saidThe independent that “tipping 20 percent is standard for restaurant servers.” He added that “delivery drivers should also receive 15 to 20 percent when there is inclement weather and large orders to deliver.”
