Mae Whitman has given birth to her first child.

The 36-year-old man Good girls The alum took to Instagram on Wednesday, August 28, to share a photo of her newborn son's feet while jokingly writing a caption about the timing of her son's birth coinciding with the birth of Hailey and Justin Bieber's son earlier this week. She also shared her son's name in honor of one of her Paternity co-stars.

“I don’t want to sound like Bieber but I just gave birth to our son Miles too,” the caption began, mentioning that her son was named after her younger brother on the NBC show, Miles Heizer.

“From the moment we heard the first sound come out of his little piggy mouth, we fell in love. He is the kindest, gentlest, smartest, funniest little bee and he is our best friend (practically just like his namesake, Uncle Miles @younggoth).”

The caption continued as Whitman thanked everyone involved in the labor and birth process.

“We are endlessly grateful that she chose us as her parents. Thank you to @kaiserbente and @carynfields and everyone at @moxiebirth and @huntingtonhospital for guiding our little family through all the unexpected twists and turns safely, with love and grace, and to everyone in our circle who has shown us such radical generosity and support. We love you all! We are so happy.”

The actress has not revealed who the child's father is or her current marital status.

Heizer showed her appreciation and love for Whitman by naming her son after him by commenting with a tearful emoji.

Others also commented on the post to share their well wishes for Whitman and Miles.

“'The moment a child is born, a mother is born…' Mae, you will be an amazing mother… Sending you and yours all my love,” read one comment.

Another commenter wrote: “From the days of girls falling in love with you and seeing you in the good girls to seeing you post about being a mother, it’s heartwarming! Congrats to you x.”

“I’m so happy for you two and sending you and your family lots of love! Welcome to the world, Miles!” read a third comment.

From Paternity By 2015, when the series' final episode aired, Whitman has been constantly seen with her former castmates. She even posted a photo in May, when she first announced she was pregnant, with Heizer and Lauren Graham, who played her mother on the show.

“I don't want to do a parenting episode or anything but…!” she began her pregnancy announcement message. “Mother's Day looks a little different this year! Can't wait to meet you, you huge baby kicking my insides into filth!”

In addition to Heizer, Whitman has also shared her closeness with Graham, whom she has previously called one of her “best friends.”

“Lord, yesterday was my best friend’s birthday and nothing brings me more joy than celebrating her by eating Rice Krispies that she made right out of the pan with our own hands,” a 2023 tribute to the Gilmore Girls Student read.

“I wish words could convey the depth of my love and gratitude for you, but they can’t, so I’ll do us both a favor and not try. I love you LG.”
