Lily Allen has spoken candidly about her sex life with her husband, David Harbour.
The 39-year-old singer made some confessions about her relationship during an episode of the BBC podcast with Miquita Oliver. Miss me?, which aired on June 17. During the conversation, Allen was asked if she had ever “embarrassed” anyone, which she said she had not done.
However, after reflecting on her previous sexual experiences, she wondered if she had jokingly examined her husband's interests.
“I wonder if I embarrass my husband,” she explained. “Because she very often asks for things and I'm like, 'No, honey, that's not happening.'”
After Oliver told her friend that she was embarrassing Harbour, the “Smile” singer clarified how she rejected some of her husband's requests when it came to their sex life.
“I'm not saying, 'You piece of shit, how dare you ask me to do that!'” he added. “I just say, 'Hmm, headache. A little headache, I have a little headache, maybe not tonight.'”
While discussing issues, Allen expressed hope that her husband wasn't listening to the episode, noting that she would ask him “where” that “sexy” side of her is. When Oliver stated that Harbor would love the “kinky bitch,” referring to Allen, he then asked the singer why her feelings about kink may have changed over the years.
In response, Allen, who has spoken out about her previous struggles with alcohol, revealed that she was often drunk when having sex in the past.
“I think alcohol had a lot to do with my perversion,” said the singer, who has now been sober for five years. “Before I got together with David, I don't think he would have had sex without being drunk.”
During the podcast, she still noted that she doesn't want to shame anyone, before sharing how open she is with her husband about her sexual experiences.
“I really like to normalize everything that people are ashamed of,” he explained. “I was talking to David about this last night; “During the breakup of my last marriage, I was very, very promiscuous and experimental… And I had sex with sex workers.”
Allen went on to remember why he wrote about those sexual experiences in his memoir. My thoughts exactlyexplaining that he felt like he “lived in a state of perpetual fear” during that time.
“I always felt like I was about to be caught by the tabloids. “So I knew that this existed and that I had been behaving this way, and I thought that was going to be revealed,” he said. “And I thought I was going to take back some power and reveal it myself in my book.”
The “Smile” singer noted that in addition to trying to “take back a little bit of power when it comes to that conversation,” another reason she wrote about her sexual experiences was because she believed many people had experienced “the same thing.” .”
“I think when they hear someone like me talk about their own experiences in a non-embarrassing and practical way, people feel better about themselves,” she continued. “So I always want to do that.”
Additionally, she detailed why it's important for her to be open-minded and non-judgmental, especially as a musician.
“To me, that's art, that's creativity, helping people accept their own behavior,” he added. “And a behavior that society sometimes looks down on, but we're all human, right?”
This isn't the first time Allen has spoken openly about his marriage. During an interview with Sunday weather Last month, she revealed that she and Harbor control which apps each can have on their phones. According to Allen, this is because she uses a phone designed for children that requires a parent to be linked to it.
“Now I have a kids phone called Pinwheel. It doesn’t have navigation or social media capabilities, but you can still have Uber and Spotify,” he told the outlet. “My husband is the caregiver, so he controls what I can have as an app on my phone. I am also his controller.”
She then joked about how she and her husband act like parents to each other. “Because they are made for children, he is [listed as] my father and I am his father.' What's your son's name? David, 50 years,'” he said.
The couple first met on the exclusive dating app Raya in 2020 and tied the knot in Las Vegas a year later. Allen was previously married to Sam Cooper, who is the father of her two daughters, Ethel, 13, and Marnie, 11. The former couple separated in 2016 and later finalized their divorce in 2018.
