Lighten your skin naturally: easy homemade paste to combat dark circles on elbows and knees

This mask can be applied 4 to 5 times a week.

List of ingredients and process to make this DIY mask as well as the application process.

Many people experience darkening of the skin, particularly in areas such as the neck and knees, often due to hyperpigmentation. This condition is a result of excessive melanin production and can be linked to acanthosis nigricans, where the skin becomes thick and dark. Other factors that contribute to darkening of the skin include sun exposure, dry skin and insufficient exfoliation. The patches that form in these areas can make the skin look dull over time.

Fortunately, there is an easy home method to fix this problem with simple ingredients commonly found at home. Here is a simple recipe for a skin whitening paste:

Essential Ingredients:

  • 3 to 4 drops of coconut oil
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons of toothpaste
  • 2 teaspoons of salt
  • 2 teaspoons of milk
  • Half a tomato

Preparation method:

  1. Mix the ingredients: Place 2 teaspoons of baking soda in a bowl. If you don't have baking soda, you can use ENO as an alternative. Add 2 teaspoons of Colgate toothpaste or powder to the bowl. Add 1 teaspoon of salt and 2 to 3 teaspoons of milk. Stir the mixture until well blended. Finally, add 3 to 4 drops of coconut oil to the paste and mix well.
  2. Apply the paste: Once the paste is ready, apply it evenly on the dark spots using your fingers. Allow the paste to dry for about 15 minutes.
  3. Use tomatoes for additional benefits: Once the paste has dried, cut a tomato in half. Rub the cut side of the tomato over the treated areas. This step helps to improve the effectiveness of the paste.
  4. Rinse and moisturize: Wash the area with clean water to remove the paste. Then, gently massage the oil into the skin.

To see noticeable improvements, use this treatment 4-5 times a week. It can be applied to your neck, elbows, knees, heels, and even underarms. Always perform a patch test before using new treatments to ensure your skin reacts well.

By following this routine, you should gradually notice a more even skin tone and a reduction in dark spots.
