Letter from the Princess of Wales to the Irish Guards read before the parade | News

The Princess of Wales has written a letter to the Irish Guards to wish them luck for the Colonel's Review which will be held in London on Saturday 8 June.

Kate, the regiment's colonel, said she was sorry to miss the event, the final rehearsal of the Trooping the Color parade, and wanted to show her support.

The letter said: “I wanted to write to you and let you know how proud I am of the entire regiment standing before the Colonel's Review and Trooping the Colour.

“I appreciate that all members of this year's troop have been practicing for months and have put in many hours to ensure their uniforms and drills are spotless.”

Kate added that being their colonel “continues to be a great honor” and that she regrets missing the event as she continues her recovery at home following cancer treatment.
