In footage of Keir Starmer's first audience with King Charles, the monarch acknowledges the “exhaustion” the new prime minister will face after a long election night.
“You must be exhausted and almost on your knees,” the King tells the Labour leader as he enters the room and shakes his hand at the start of the meeting.
Starmer joked: “I didn’t get much sleep!”
Although he has no political affiliation, the King will meet with the new prime minister to advise him on ongoing parliamentary matters.
