Sir Keir Starmer says his family brought a Siberian kitten to 10 Downing Street after his children asked him to get a German shepherd if he won the general election.
The new pet will live with the family alongside the family's coin cat, JoJo, and Number 10's head mouser, Larry.
Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live on Monday 2 September, the Prime Minister described months of negotiations with his children, who had asked for a dog if Labour won.
“I said we would go into the room and sort it out. We are now going to have a kitten instead of a dog,” Sir Keir said.
