Kate Middleton Photo: Editorial crisis deepens as Kensington Palace 'no longer a reliable source'

Princess Kate's 'reassuring' Mother's Day image 'done completely backwards', says royal biographer

“Kensington Palace can no longer be trusted,” says the director of a global news agency, deepening the crisis in photo editing.

Phil Chetwynd, global news director for Agence France-Press (AFP), lashed out at the palace in an interview on BBC Radio 4. The media spectacle.

When asked if they were “a reliable source,” he responded: “No, absolutely not. As with everything, when a source disappoints you, the bar is raised.”

It comes after controversy sparked by the revelation that Kate Middleton had edited a family photograph shared on behalf of the Cambridges on Mother's Day, leading to agencies removing the photo and the Princess of Wales publicly apologizing .

Chetwynd shared how the agencies consulted together to decide how to react and requested the original photograph of the Palace, but claimed they did not respond so they removed the photograph.

Deleting photographs is a “rare thing” and even rarer when it comes to deletion through tampering, Chetwynd added.

He added: “The previous assassinations have been from the North Korean news agency or the Iranian news agency, just to give you some background and context.”
