King Charles holds face-to-face audience with chancellor ahead of budget
The palace has addressed rumors about Kate Middleton's health after Gary Goldsmith attacked Meghan Markle for “creating drama.”
The princess's absence from the public eye and Prince William's performance of fewer public duties in recent weeks has sparked a number of unfounded conspiracy theories online speculating about the royal's whereabouts.
Referring to William, a royal spokesman said People magazine: “He focuses on his work and not on social networks.”
It comes as reality star Ekin-Su asked Kate Middleton's uncle Gary Goldsmith about his niece's health while in the Celebrity Big Brother house.
He said: “I spoke to his mother, he is receiving the best care in the world.”
When Ekin-Su asked if Kate would be back, he replied: “She's amazing, she'll be back, of course she will.”
Yesterday, Goldsmith launched his first criticism of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. He first said that Harry couldn't “throw his family away,” referring to Spare's memoir of him, and “expect to be invited to spend Christmas.”
He then said that Meghan's entry into the family had brought an additional dynamic that “puts a damper on the spokes and creates a lot of drama.”
More on King Charles' diplomatic audience
Hours earlier, the King received the incoming ambassador of Algeria, Nourredine Yazid, and the ambassador of Mauritania, Samba Mamadou Ba, who presented their credentials.
The diplomatic audiences were the King's first this year and the first since his diagnosis.
He was photographed in a smart morning suit, his usual attire for traditional face-to-face meetings with new ambassadors.
Charles smiled broadly as he greeted and chatted with his guests in the grand 1844 Room at Buckingham Palace.
The King also sent a written message expressing his deepest condolences on the death of former Tanzanian President Ali Hassan Mwinyi, calling him a “true friend” of the United Kingdom.
Charles praised Mr Mwinyi, who died last week at the age of 98, for being a “prominent figure” in Tanzania's economic and political development.
He recalled that his mother, the late Queen, invited the president to lunch at Buckingham Palace with then-Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in 1988.
Charles said in his message to Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan: “It is with great sadness that I learned of the death of former President Mwinyi.
“He was a true friend of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth, and a leading figure in the economic and political development of Tanzania. I can only offer my deepest condolences for his passing.”

King video calls Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on a day of behind-the-scenes duties
The King held a video call with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau as he carried out a series of behind-the-scenes tasks.
The monarch, who is undergoing cancer treatment, spoke with Trudeau on Wednesday, in addition to holding two diplomatic audiences and writing a message of condolence to Tanzania over the death of the country's former president.
Carlos, who continues his duties as head of state behind the palace walls, has postponed all public engagements following his diagnosis.
He was photographed sitting in front of a computer screen during the virtual hearing with Trudeau, in scenes reminiscent of his mother, the late Queen, who embraced the mode of communication during the Covid-19 pandemic and in her final years.
It is the first time they have spoken since the King's cancer diagnosis.
The pair are understood to have discussed current national and international issues, with both the King and Mr Trudeau expressing personal well-wishes.
A folder of printed notes was open in front of the monarch on the wooden desk, with two red pens and a notepad ready for use.
