Prince William today shared his joy that the Princess of Wales is now cancer-free after the news was announced publicly yesterday.
The 42-year-old heir to the throne reacted to the “good news” as he met royal supporters outside a primary school in Llanelli, west Wales.
He told Pauline Thomas, 74: “It’s good news, but there’s still a long way to go.”
Kate, 42, appeared in a deeply personal video with her family on Monday confirming her positive progress and revealing she would begin “taking on light commitments” until the end of the year.
Her heartfelt message about her battle with cancer is expressed through images showing the couple and their children enjoying the outdoors, as the couple embrace while holding hands.
She describes the past nine months since her serious health issues began as “incredibly difficult for us as a family” and how the “cancer journey is complex, scary and unpredictable for everyone,” and the experience gave her a “new perspective on everything.”
Kate has largely stayed out of the public eye since her diagnosis, and has only been seen on official engagements twice since January.
Upcoming engagements could include a Remembrance Sunday service in November and an annual carol concert at Westminster Abbey, which the princess has previously hosted.

Meghan Markle criticised for 'bad taste' decision on late queen's birthday
The Duchess of Sussex has come under fire for appearing at a book club event with Oprah Winfrey on the anniversary of the late Queen Elizabeth II's death.
As reported by the ExpressRoyal commentator Richard Fitzwilliam described the California appearance as a “terrible mistake”.
He said: “I think it was an absolutely terrible choice of venue to perform, especially on a very special anniversary.
“I mean, we all know that when Meghan and Harry did the interview on Oprah, which is infamous.
“Although they had not planned it, Prince Philip was in hospital when the interview was broadcast. We know that he died shortly afterwards.
“We also know that the interview was like exploding a nuclear weapon in the courtyard of Buckingham Palace.
“What is remembered is that the Queen’s comments, ‘some recollections may vary’, sum it up very well. But it was an absolutely distasteful place to be.
“We know that Meghan and Oprah are friends, but to see them in a place that brought back memories of that interview on that anniversary is just extraordinary.”

Harry and Meghan could return to the UK for Christmas
A close source claimed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex I have been invited to the UK to spend Christmas with the Spencer family.

Released yesterday, the moving video shows the Princess of Wales reflecting on her battle with cancer and the impact it has had on her life and her family.
Royal commentator Duncan Larcombe said: “[The video] It reinforces the mark of a united and normal family – normal in quotation marks, obviously.
“It’s a follow-up to the one they released a couple of years ago at Easter, which was also filmed in Norfolk and showed them playing on the beach, roasting marshmallows, with lots of hugs and happy children.
“That is clearly the image that William and Kate are trying to present, and I think they are doing it quite successfully.”
