Jordan Chiles' family brought tears to the internet at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

The 23-year-old, along with U.S. teammates Simone Biles and Suni Lee, claimed a gold medal during the women's gymnastics team final on July 30. When Chiles took the mat for her final Olympic event on Tuesday, the gymnast performed an electrifying floor routine that had her family jumping for joy in the stands.

Chiles looked directly into the camera and winked at viewers during her floor routine, which was set to a medley of Beyoncé songs. At the end of her dazzling performance, she appeared to get emotional and quickly let out a scream, before returning to her teammates.

The camera then panned to Chiles' parents, Timothy and Gina Chiles, who were also visibly emotional. Her mother, Gina, was seen covering her face as she burst into tears. Meanwhile, her father, Timothy, slapped his chest in emotion and raised his hands in the air.

Chiles scored 13.966 on the floor routine, marking the third best performance of the day.

Following the event, an image of the gymnast's parents cheering her on from the stands went viral on X, formerly Twitter. In the comments, fans expressed how emotional they were to see Chiles' parents supporting their daughter during the key moment.

“You made me cry!” said one viewer on the platform. “Ugh, I love this for her! GO USA!!!”

“That’s when I started crying,” another fan wrote alongside the viral photo of Timothy and Gina.

“If you didn’t get goosebumps seeing his parents, you’re not human,” said another person, while another X user wrote: “Best reactions!”

At age 6, Chiles’ parents enrolled their daughter in gymnastics classes, after Timothy spent a week alone with the energetic teen while her mother was away on business, according to a 2021 interview with The Associated Press. New York Times.

“My parents couldn’t stop me from doing cartwheels down the hall in any open space or walking on my hands instead of my feet. People were constantly asking me if I did gymnastics. I had so much energy! So they put me in gymnastics,” Chiles told the USA Gymnastics website.

Although originally from Vancouver, Washington, Chiles moved to Texas after graduating high school to pursue her gymnastics career. She and her mother moved to the Lone Star State to join Biles' gym, the World Champions Centre, where Chiles began training under coaches Cecile and Laurent Landi.

“My family had to sacrifice a lot of things, especially my brothers, taking me to the gym and doing all these things for me,” Chiles said. Teen Vogue Earlier this month, she told me: “That’s how it’s been my whole life, but now I try to avoid all that attention. I was the centre of attention when I was younger and now I want to give that attention to everyone else.”

The gymnast is the youngest of five siblings. In addition to Chiles, the couple, who married in 1994, have two other daughters, Jazmin and Jade, and two sons, Tajmen and Tyrus.

Chiles made her Olympic debut at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, where she won a silver medal. After Chiles secured her spot on the U.S. women's gymnastics team for the 2024 Paris Games, her mother Gina took to Instagram to congratulate her daughter on the achievement.

“What an incredible journey Jordan. GOOOOOOO!!!!! #paris2024,” she began her post, shared earlier this month. “My favorite part was watching you mature while fighting for your dream. It was hard and uncomfortable but you trusted God, yourself, and your coaches. Instead of giving up, you pushed harder.”

During Tuesday's team all-around final, Biles also made history as the most decorated U.S. Olympic gymnast with eight medals.

Competition continues on Thursday, August 1 with the women's all-around final, followed by the individual event finals from Saturday, August 3 through Monday, August 5. Of Team USA, only Biles and Lee will compete in the all-around final.
