Bhadrapada, the sixth month of the Hindi calendar, has begun, marking an important period in Hinduism. Renowned for its variety of festivals and cultural events, this month will continue till September 18.

During the month of Bhadrapada, celebrations like Krishna Janmashtami and Ganeshotsav will be held. Janmashtami will feature elaborately decorated floats, while the sound of dandy will fill the air during Ganeshotsav. The community is filled with enthusiasm as these cherished festivals approach.

The month will culminate with Bhadrapada Purnima on September 18. After this, Pitru Paksha will begin, a period dedicated to honoring ancestors through tarpan rituals.

In an interview, Pandit Kamlesh Vyas detailed the upcoming celebrations in the month of Bhadrapada. He explained that Janmashtami will be celebrated on the Ashtami of Krishna Paksha during this month. Hartalika Teej, which falls on Bhadrapada Shukla Tritiya, is a festival dedicated to ensuring uninterrupted good fortune through the worship of Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva. Also, the 10-day Ganeshotsav in honour of Lord Ganesha will be celebrated during Bhadrapada.

In Bhilwara, Ganesh Chaturthi is particularly important and the month also includes celebrations such as Radha Ashtami, Hal Shashthi and Rishi Panchami. The month concludes with Bhadrapada Purnima, which marks the beginning of Pitru Pakshaa time to perform Purnima Shradh in honour of the ancestors.

This year, Ganesh Chaturthi is generating exceptional enthusiasm. On September 7, Ganesh Chaturthi will be celebrated with fairs at Lord Ganesha temples, with special worship services. For the next 10 days, celebratory chants of “Ganpati Bappa Moriya” will fill the air as the idols of Lord Ganesha are installed in pandalsaccompanied by the lively sound of dandy.

Moreover, beautifully decorated pictures will be seen on Krishna Janmashtami and Rakhis will be tied on Rishi Panchami, which will add to the festive atmosphere.
