How to have the best Sunday in Los Angeles, according to Hannah Pilkes

Although it comes from New York City, actor and comedian Hannah Pilkes confesses that living in Los Angeles has won it. “I loved the comedy scene in New York, but the attractiveness of Los Angeles is undeniable,” she says.

Pilkes, who portrays Leanne Morgan's daughter in the new Netflix “Leanne” comedy, is in love with outdoor lifestyle throughout the year offered by the. “I love Pasadena,” she says. “The ability to be outside in the patio all year is the chef's kiss.”

On Sunday Funday, the people of Los Angeles give us a play per game of their ideal Sunday in the city. Find ideas and inspiration about where to go, what to eat and how to enjoy life on weekends.

When he is not opening for comedians such as Meg Stalter and Paul F. Tompkins or that appears in popular podcasts such as “Comedy Bang Bang” and the audible series of Chloe Fineman, “excessive”, Pilkes is often immersing himself in the vibrant artistic scene of Los Angeles.

The 32 -year -old woman admits that she could easily spend a whole day in Pasadena, either admiring the paintings of Edgar Degas at the Norton Simon Museum or walking through the lovely Arlington Garden with her husband, Gregory Nussen. “I am captivated by the state of the as an art center,” she says. “There are many places where there is fantasy and magic because there are so many artists who try to find ways to express themselves.”

You just don't expect to find her playing tennis at the Rose Bowl Tennis Center in Pasadena. “Greg and I tried to play tennis four days a week as our New Year resolution,” she says, laughing. “They got a racket, and when I was not good at about, I had a crisis. I love to run around Rose Bowl, and my parents swim there. But we realized that if we want to keep love alive, maybe we shouldn't play tennis together. Maybe we should invest in lessons.”

8 am: coffee and garden road in Pasadena

I like to start my day with a Tartine ice cream morning bun at Green Street. I have the palate of a small child, so I prefer a sweet coffee drink. Or I will cross the street to ideology because the baristas are there are heaven on earth. I could talk to them for hours.

I am a great garden enthusiast. Huntington gardens receive a lot of credit, which deserve, but there are so many hidden gems in Los Angeles. I love Arlington Garden, a small garden hidden with fresh topiaries, sculptures and a rustic sensation. I love bringing my diary there. Some days, I will bring lunch and make a picnic there with my friends. It is such a charming area.

10 am: visit a jungle -shaped nursery in Sylmar

Stay in the kick of the garden: there is a nursery named Earth Force Nursery in Sylmar that is simply beautiful. When you get there, you will suddenly feel that you are in a jungle. On Saturdays and Sundays, his coffee, hidden coffee, is open, serves delicious coffee, Mexican food and margaritas. While you are there, you feel that time and space cease to exist, and you are on vacation for just a few hours.

Noon: Buy the books used in DTLA

I love the last bookstore. I have not visited the new in Studio City, but the art direction in the location of the center is very good. I love anywhere so you can get $ 2 books. I love their smell. I love being able to buy plays there. For my wedding in Nestldown, my aesthetics was majestic and capricious. I wanted to feel like a teacher in the forest, so we bought a lot of used books from the last bookstore and stacked them along a winding road and then covered them with moss. I like to feel that I'm in a Jim Henson movie at all times.

2 pm: lunch … choose

Rest Gardens has a new restaurant, Farmhouse, which has reused wood. It is really dramatic and loved, and I had one of the best salads there. I also like Kismet Rotisserie, Crossroads Kitchen in Melrose, my vegan seafood and Malibu, which is such a magical place of lunch. Republique is so expensive, but they have such delicious cakes and quiches. I had a delicious Shakshouka for lunch and the best oysters I've had in southern California. It reminds me of Sea Ranch, my favorite place in the world, where I will eat oysters and drink white wine and see the sunset.

4 pm: moving on the Facebook market

My ideal day is to be sitting in a patio while looking for the Facebook market for precious memories. I just moved to an artisan apartment in 1895, and when we moved for the first time, I didn't have a single furniture. When I got the work in “Leanne”, I decided to treat myself and enjoy some furniture, but I am particular about it. I like to rent my clothes and appreciate recycled furniture. I bought my dining table at Sunbeam Vintage at Highland Park. If there is a dent or scratch, for me, it is character. I want to imagine the trip the furniture had before they made me. I enjoy bringing old memories to my new space.

6 PM: Drinks in Checker Hall

My favorite bar in all the is Checker Hall. He has the best cocktails and almost feels as if you were in New Orleans when you enter. He has a beautiful patio overlooking the Highland Park. The decoration is Funky and Kitschy, but elegant; It is magical. Its Mediterranean bites are incredible. Next is the Lodge Room, which is my favorite place for the variety in all La, I saw Elijah Fox there, and I acted in “Varietopia” there. The public is always jovial and electric. I love that you can do your comedy program and then congregate at the bar later, as in New York. I also love Elysian in Echo Park. They have an area where you can enjoy drinks. I am in favor of chatting after the show, as, let's talk about that strange thing we just did on stage! People often do not recognize me because you often use wigs.

If we are not going to Checker Hall, we will arrive at Edwin Mills by Ecator in Pasadena at the end of the night. They have an incredible happy time of 4 to 7 pm, and I love their Lichee Martinis. In the nights they have live jazz, there are people who dance from all areas of life, older people, even my 4 -year -old nephew loves to dance there, and there are dogs. He feels so communal, and everyone applauds at the end. It is very healthy and sweet.

10 PM: BAD reality TV and impressions

Being realistic, my husband and I would probably end the day seeing the binge of the bad reality to decompress and disorder it a little, something like “Love Island”. In general, I am the most famous late late at night, so I could order something against my best judgment such as the Tatstu vegan ramen. We will devour “Love Island” and then we will make impressions on each other. Thank God I married someone who is an artist. Life is interesting with them. It is very, very fun.
