How to have the best Sunday in Los Angeles, according to Eva Longoria

Sundays have always been a “holy” day for Eva Longoria.

Growing up in Texas, the Golden Globe-nominated actress went to Sunday Mass with her family before heading to one of her favorite restaurants. From Lubywhere he would order a plate of fried fish with mashed potatoes, corn, buttery rolls and all the soda he wanted.

“Today I would still ask for it,” he says. “It was a real Sunday treat.”

On Sunday Funday, Los Angeles locals share their perfect Sunday in the city step-by-step. Find ideas and inspiration on where to go, what to eat, and how to enjoy life on the weekends.

After more than a decade away, the “Desperate Housewives” star makes her big return to the small screen in “Land of Women,” which premiered this month on Apple TV+. Longoria plays Gala, a New York socialite who is forced to flee her comfortable life after discovering that her husband is on the run from dangerous criminals. To hide out, Longoria’s character takes her teenage daughter (Victoria Bazúa) and elderly mother (Carmen Maura) with her to Spain’s dreamy wine region. The endearing bilingual dramedy marks Longoria’s first time acting in Spanish.

“It seems that television is so darkness and it gives me a lot of anxiety,” says Longoria, who is also an executive producer of the show. “Each series is about a dystopian future, the world is going to end, an asteroid is coming or everyone is a zombie and I say: 'Ugh“I just want to get away. I want to have blue skies. I want to see a show and say, 'I want to go there.' That's what this show is all about.”

Although Longoria normally avoids leaving her house on Sundays — which she calls “dormingos” — she imagined her ideal day in Los Angeles, which she would spend with her husband, José “Pepe” Bastón, and her 6-year-old son, Santiago, whom she calls “Santi.”

7 am: Cooking my son's 'first' breakfast

I usually make my son his first breakfast at home because he wakes up and is hungry. He likes hard-boiled eggs. When I was little, he wouldn't eat egg yolks. I don't know where he got this from, but he doesn't like egg yolks either. So he eats turkey sausage. I always give him refried beans and fresh flour tortillas. [on hand] because I'm making them for the week. Then we'll lay in bed and watch a movie.

9 am: A second 'bougie' breakfast at the Polo Lounge

On Sundays we like to take my son to Polo Hall because he's a faggot. My son is very spark plug. He likes the pancakes there, so on Sunday mornings we like to just wander into the Polo Lounge and buy our son some silver dollar pancakes. I like the cappuccinos there. They also have great avocado toast, that sounds boring. They also have very good eggs rancheros, which my husband really likes.

10:30 am: Gather the essentials for the barbecue

After breakfast, we made a stop at Jayde's Market to pick up the food I will cook that afternoon. Jayde's is a local market that has everything I need, including my brand of tequila, House ofI Sun. I can stop by, grab what I need and go back to my Sunday.

11am: Exercise, Then jump into the pool

Usually Santi goes to the pool and Pepe and I go to work out, even on Sundays because Sunday is so quiet that we can work out whenever we want. Our gym is right in front of the pool so we watch him while he works out and then join him right after.

12:30 pm: Sunday barbecue with family and friends

Then I usually start having a barbecue at home. I always have barbecues on Sundays. Our friends and all the kids come over and have fun in the pool. That's definitely our tradition. We always have barbecues, usually chops, burgers, hot dogs or sausages. Then I make a salad (most of the time it's potato salad) and we make tacos with all the meat. We grill chicken and chops. We always make tortillas and I always I make guacamole. I have my Siete chips, the green ones, which are essential in our house. We usually snack on a buffet I prepare. Nobody leaves. It goes on until the evening and then I end up cooking dinner too.

7:00 p.m.: dinner at Petit Trois

Once everyone has left, we will put Santi to bed. We do bath time, read books, and then usually lay down with him until he falls asleep. Then we will have a snack at Little Trois in the valley. Ugh, it's my favourite. I like chicken liver mousse, mussels and also a good glass of wine. Their menu is seasonal so it's always different. Normally if we have mussels we'll have white wine, but if we have a steak we'll have a good Bordeaux.

Sometimes it's a toss-up between Petit Trois and From Wally in Beverly Hills. [Wally’s has] Great lentils, brie baked inside bread topped with truffles, truffle pizza, an amazing bone marrow dish that is to die for, and amazing charcuterie and cheeses. They also have great cocktails. I like to order a Fogliano, a Negroni with prosecco. Of course, they have a great wine list. At Wally's, you can have a glass from a really good bottle; you don't have to buy the bottle.

9:00 pm: Tea and TV before bed.

We'll come back and Pepe and I will have our magnesium tea together. We'll drink it in bed. He likes to watch things before going to bed, so he'll put on a series or a movie and after two minutes he'll go out. Then I'll get stuck, addicted to some random series.
