Hartalika Teej 2024: Know all about fasting, rituals and auspicious timing revealed by an astrologer

Hartalika Teej festival is marked by fasting, prayers and colorful rituals. Women fast from sunrise to sunset to have a happy married life.

Hartalika Teej, which is celebrated every year in the Shukla Paksha Tritiya of the Bhadrapada This year, the month of Hartalika Teej will be celebrated on Friday, 6th September. Brahma Yoga, Shukla Yoga, and Yoga Ravi which are considered important in astrology and have a very positive impact on one's life.

On the occasion of Teej, married women consume Sargi During the Brahma Muhurta to observe the 'Nirjala' Fasting. This fast will be observed without food or water from dawn today until dawn on September 7.

There are two Muhurtas for the worship of Hartalika Teej – one in the morning and one in the evening. On this day, women observe fast and perform rituals to receive blessings from Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. Married women pray for marital joy, prosperity, well-being and longevity of their husbands. Young women also observe this fast to attract their desired life partner.

According to astrologer Pandit Rakesh Pandey of the Maharshi Parashar Jyotish Sansthan Trust, there are muhurat (auspicious times), vrat (Fasting rules), methods of worship and aartis to be followed while observing Hartalika Teej.

This time Tritiya Tithi aligns with Chaturthi Tithiwhich is extremely pure and auspicious. Dwitiya Tithi is for the ancestors and Chaturthi Tithi is dedicated to children. On Teej, the Up to Nakshatra is followed by the Nakshatra Chitra.

  • Morning Bidding Schedule: From 06:02 AM to 08:33 AM
  • Evening Puja Schedule: After 18:36
  • Brahma Muhurat: From 04:30 AM to 05:16 AM
  • Abhijit Muhurat: From 11:54 to 12:44 hours
  • Muhurat of Labh Uttam: From 07:36 to 09:10 hours

Three Auspicious Yogas in Hartalika Teej:

  • Yoga Ravi: From 9:25 AM on Friday to 6:02 AM on Saturday
  • Yoga Shukla: From Friday morning until 10:15 a.m.
  • Brahma Yoga: From 10:15 a.m. on Friday until midnight

Preparation for Hartalika Teej Puja 2024:

For Hartalika Teej celebration, essential elements include idols of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, which are placed on a wooden platform. Red and yellow cloth is used to cover the platform. Sixteen types of ornaments are required to decorate the deities.

A book containing the Hartalika Teej Vrat Katha and the aarti are essential for worship. Other items include kumkum, sindoor (vermilion), bel leaves, marijuanaand Datura for offerings. Other things like incense, a lamp, Gangajal, Naivety (Food offerings), perfumes, sweets, cow's milk and curds are prepared for the puja.

TO Kalash (holy water jar) decorated with mango leaves, flowers and garlands should also be placed in front of the idols. Banana plants, coconuts, sandalwood, Durva (sacred herb), honey, ghee, betel leaves, betel nuts, sacred thread and camphor are required to complete the ritual of Teej celebration.

Hartalika Teej Puja Procedure 2024:

Hartalika Teej fasting is performed without drinking water or eating food or fruits. This fast lasts from the dawn of the day of Teej to the dawn of the day of Chaturtiin total 24 hours. At night, decorate the house with Toran (decorative pendants).

Devotees should use clay idols or images of Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva for Teej Puja in the courtyard of the house. They should install the idol and place a Kalash (holy water jar) in front of the idols for Puja in the evening, and perform the Puja during Pradosh kaalwhich is after sunset.

Devotees are required to offer five garments to Lord Shiva and three garments, along with sixteen traditional ornaments, to Goddess Parvati. Married women are required to listen to Hartalika Teej. Vratkatha and perform the Aarti for Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva.

Devotees must stay awake throughout the night on Friday. On September 7, they must bathe in the morning, perform the daily puja and give donations (Dakshina) to the Brahmins and complete the fast with prayers.
