Harry Potter star Michael Gambon's wife inherits £1.5m fortune


Harry Potter Actor Sir Michael Gambon has left his entire fortune to his wife of 61 years, Anne Gambon.

The 82-year-old star of stage and screen, much loved for his role as Dumbledore in the hit films based on JK Rowling's novels, died in September last year after a bout with pneumonia.

After his will was published on Tuesday (March 5), it was revealed that his long-term girlfriend Philippa Hart had been left nothing, in the three-page document seen by the daily mail.

Hart, who is a set designer, met Gambon during the filming of Length in 2000. They have two teenage sons together: Tom, 17, and William, 15.

The actor divided his time between his wife, Mrs. Gambon, and his girlfriend Hart of two decades.

He Layer cake The star wrote his will in 2016, naming his wife and son Fergus, 60, as executors of the document.

He had arranged for the entirety of his £1,465,882 fortune to remain in the hands of his son Fergus, in the event that his wife died before him.

His children with Hart received £10,000 each and a trophy according to the will. Both received a Silver Heart from the Variety Club of Great Britain's Drama Actor Award, the eldest taking one awarded in 1987 while the youngest received a trophy awarded in 2000.

Hart appears to have left nothing in the will. The sum left in his will does not appear to include assets belonging to family members acquired before his death.

Gambon's death was announced by his wife Anne and son Fergus through his publicist in September last year.

“We are devastated to announce the loss of Sir Michael Gambon,” they said.

“Beloved husband and father, Michael died peacefully in hospital with his wife, Anne, and son, Fergus, at his bedside, following a bout of pneumonia. “We ask that you respect our privacy at this painful time and we thank you for your messages of support and love.”

The legendary star of stage and screen received three Olivier Awards, two Screen Actors Guild Awards and four Baftas during his lifetime.

Over a six-decade career, Gambon became a household name starring in the BBC series. The singing detective but he also played crime boss Eddie Temple in the 1990s thriller, Layer cake.

For younger audiences, however, he will be remembered as Hogwarts headmaster Albus Dumbledore in the Harry Potter films. He took office in 2004. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkabantwo years after the death of Richard Harris.
