Ford Recalls Mustangs, Super Duty Trucks Over Seat Belt, Rear View Camera Issues

Ford has recalled more than 625,000 vehicles in the United States for rearview camera and seat belt problems that could lead to accidents and injuries.

Owners are warned to visit a dealership if they own the popular models affected by the recalls.

A total of 332,778 Ford Mustangs have been recalled due to a problem with the vehicles' seat belts, which may not properly restrain an occupant in the event of an accident. Owners have been asked to take their cars to a dealership so workers can check the seat belt parts and replace them if necessary.

Ford may also remove sections of carpet that touch the wires, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said.

The second recall involves certain 2020-2022 F-250 SD, F-350 SD and F-450 SD vehicles.

Truck rearview cameras may not display images correctly in certain lighting conditions, the company warned.

Ford reviewed customer complaints and warranty information while investigating the issue. As of September 20, Ford was aware of 10 reported issues with its super-duty trucks, with the first occurring on January 20, 2022.

Ford is not aware of any reports of accidents or injuries related to this condition.

The automaker's dealers will update the image processing module software of affected vehicles free of charge.

Interim letters are expected to be sent to vehicle owners on October 20. Additional letters will be sent once the final solution is available, which is expected in March 2026.
