Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling made a rare public outing with their family during the Paris 2024 Olympics.
The longtime couple was spotted in Paris on August 4 sitting in the stands during the Grand Prix Freestyle dressage event. At the event, Germany's Jessica von Bredow-Werndl won gold, with an overall score of 90.09 percent. Bredow-Werndl's teammate Isabell Werth took silver, while British rider Charlotte Fry won bronze.
During the competition, Gosling opted for a white tank top, a red flannel shirt, brown sunglasses and a white cap, which had the Paris Olympics logo on it. His partner wore a navy blue dress, beige sunglasses and a large tan sun hat. The couple appeared to be accompanied by their two daughters, Esmeralda, nine, and Amada, eight.
Gosling and Mendes' day out in Paris continued after the dressage event, as they headed to the women's gymnastics uneven bars final. NBC's broadcast of the event captured the pair in the stands, with Gosling wrapping his arm around Mendes' shoulders. The pair watched the competition, in which Team USA gymnast Suni Lee won bronze, while wearing sunglasses, with the brand's logo on the front. On social media, fans expressed their joy at seeing the couple on a rare public outing together.
“There are legends in the stands watching the game,” wrote one on X, while another added: “I was pleasantly surprised to see Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes in the crowd. We hardly ever see them together at events. They look great!”
A third wrote: “Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling’s last public appearance was at the uneven bars final. They are very real.”
Mendes has previously spoken about stepping away from the spotlight, as the couple has kept their relationship private for over a decade. During an appearance on Today In March, she reflected on how she first decided to step away from acting so she could raise her children.
“I didn’t think twice. I’m very fortunate and I thought, ‘If only I could have this time with my kids,’” she said, before noting that she still works but “doesn’t act anymore.” “Because acting takes you to the place, it keeps you away.”
Mendes acknowledged that she and her partner have their own careers and noted that their work-from-home schedule allows Gosling to act.
“It was almost like a non-verbal agreement, like, ‘Okay, he’s going to work and I’m going to work. I’m going to work here,’” she said. “He went and did his job. He happens to be very good at his job. And he did it and came home.”
During an interview with Glamor A month later, Mendes explained her parenting arrangement with Gosling, noting that it wasn’t a “nonverbal” agreement that led her to work from home. Rather, Gosling and Mendes had many deep conversations about how to balance their professional and family lives, she said.
“For me… recently in an interview I said it was almost like a non-verbal agreement that Ryan and I had [to step back from acting]“That was… not twisted, but taken out of context because I meant it was almost obvious. But actually, obviously, there was a lot of thought and conversation, especially on my part, about what I wanted to do with my life,” she said. Hitch star explained.
