Dunkin' bagel sparks backlash over strange shape: 'Ozempic bagel'

A woman points out a defect in a bagel she received from Dunkin'.

The woman, under the username @spamspamham on TikTok, took to the platform to show off her bagel with a larger-than-normal opening.

“Girl, I ordered a bagel at Dunkin',” her video began. “Why is she so open?” she asks her viewers, showing a bagel that appears to have more room in the hole inside than the ring of bread surrounding it.

After being posted, the TikToker's video received over a million views, with many commenters laughing at the bagel's appearance.

“Dunkin makes bagels like they're mad at us,????” a comment read.

Another commenter agreed, writing, “I received one like this a few days ago. It was a big oval.”

“Bagel Ozempic,” a third commenter joked.

His video ended up catching the attention of another TikToker named Kenny Ortega who showed a photo of a bagel he also received from Dunkin'.

“There's a video of this girl's open Dunkin' bagel,” he said in the video. “It reminded me of this bagel I bought at Dunkin' about a year ago,” she said.

Ortega's video then showed an image of what appears to be a very thin bagel with an oversized hole, resting on top of a Dunkin' bag.

In the video's caption, Ortega stated, “If the original girl sees this please let me do a duet with your video!!!”

Once again, people left comments joking about the bagel's strange shape, questioning why the restaurant chain would sell such a misshapen product.

“It's a Dunkin' bracelet!” a comment read.

“Okay, but someone looked at that, toasted it, and sold it to you. In fact, I would be very angry,” another commenter noted.

The independent has contacted Dunkin' representatives for comment.

This isn't the first time a bagel has been attacked. Previously, a Los Angeles man named Taylor Offer took to TikTok to share his experience ordering a bagel in New York City, which he claims ended with him being kicked out of the deli.

“There's nothing more stressful than ordering a bagel in New York City,” Offer's video began. He explained that his normal bagel order is a gluten-free bagel. A spoon-shaped bagel is when the inside part of the bagel, the soft bread, is removed. It's usually made as a low-calorie or low-carb option, but some people ask for the bagels to be removed for more cream cheese or another filling of their choice.

In Los Angeles, Offer said no one questions his order, but the New York deli he visited had a problem with it. “I just walked in and ordered a gluten-free bagel, the guy just looks at me and says, 'I'm not picking up your damn bagel, bro,'” Offer alleged.

Offer said he was confused as to why his request was being questioned because he noted, “That's the way I want it.” The TikToker then alleged that the employee behind the counter kicked him out of the deli, at which point Offer said he would simply move to another deli.
