A DoorDash customer opened up about a strange request from his driver.
Rebecca Rogers recently took to TikTok to detail the strange experience that happened to her friend after she placed an order with the food delivery service. “My friend ordered DoorDash,” she began her video.
“The driver calls her, she answers assuming there is some problem, maybe she is lost. The guy says, 'Hey, I got your food, I'm here.' She said, “Okay, you can leave it at the door.” [He says] 'But I'm here, aren't you just going to come and get him for me?'”
This led her friend to think she had made a mistake in her order and instead asked the driver to deliver the food. While the driver confirmed that she marked the order to leave it at the door, she said that “the least she could do” would be to open the door and come receive the order directly from him.
“She said, 'Well, I marked it 'leave at door,' so handing it to me is not part of your job,'” Rogers continued. “He's like, 'I can't believe you're wasting your time like this, you fucking b-word.'”
When it was time for her friend to pick up her order, she thought the bag looked “thrown” on the floor.
“She asked me, 'Was I being difficult? Should she have gone to the door like he wanted?' Girl, no. A random strange man at your door having a tantrum and you don't want to go out and interact with him? Rogers said. “That sounds very dangerous.”
“What's going on with these food delivery places? “This is so weird!” She captioned the clip of her.
Since its publication, TikTok has received more than 200,000 views on the platform. Many people in the comments agreed that his behavior was strange and that something should be done about the driver.
“This is why you can leave instructions for leaving it at the door. I wait for them to leave. “I don’t open the door to random people,” one commenter wrote.
Another commenter agreed, writing, “You need to report it to DoorDash immediately.”
Other commenters shared their own similar incidents they had with DoorDash drivers, including some tricks they use.
“Yes, that was very suspicious… luckily that hasn't happened to me because I put 'reactive dog' in my instructions,” one person wrote in the comments.
“That's why my account is in my husband's name,” another commenter noted.
“This is why I don't use DoorDash anymore,” a third person explained. “I keep getting guys who ignore my 'leave at door' and insist they hand it to me, which is frustrating when I work from home and have dogs who end up barking instead of just leaving it and walking away like I asked. “
This isn't the first time someone has taken to TikTok to complain about a DoorDash driver. In another viral video, user Lacey Purciful showed video footage of her interaction with her DoorDash controller. “My lovely Dasher Corey thinks he should tip 50 percent,” she captioned the clip.
The video showed the delivery man delivering the pizza, while the text on the screen clarified that it was a $20 pie. “I just want to say it's a nice house for a $5 tip,” the man said as he walked away.
“Thank you,” Purciful responded, as the delivery man chimed in: “Fuck you.”
