Colton Underwood reveals he and his husband used an unknown sperm donor

Colton Underwood spoke candidly about the intimate decision he and his husband, Jordan C. Brown, made when planning to grow their family.

After announcing they were expecting a baby on May 21, the 32-year-old ex Bachelor spoke about the details during an appearance on iHeartRadio The most dramatic podcast ever created with Chris Harrison. According to Underwood, the priority was to use a “healthy embryo” and knowing the sperm donor was not important to them.

“We told our doctor to put in the healthiest embryo. And then for the next one, change the genetics,” Underwood explained.

That being said, the reality star believes the identity of the donor could be evident once her baby is born.

He added: “I have a good chance we could know, but we did it in a way to protect ourselves. He didn't want people to go out into the street and say, 'Whose is this?' And we looked at each other. He is our son and our baby.”

Underwood and Brown plan to have two children, she said. For egg retrieval, the couple, who married in May 2023, separated eggs “half and half” from a donor of her choosing. The couple wanted the egg donor to be “spontaneous and adventurous.”

Unfortunately, the television personality received difficult news throughout the entire process. “When we first got tested, I actually had no sperm. At one point the doctor said, 'You have four and three of them are dead.' I can make this work,'” he confessed.

With the debut of his new podcast, DaddyUnderwood detailed the disappointment she felt at the news.

“I mean, right away, my husband got his sperm count results and he had amazing, great numbers, and I got mine back and all my sperm was dead,” she explained. “And I think I immediately thought, 'Oh, what does this mean? It means I am sterile and can't have children now. And it wasn't a great feeling.”

Underwood and Brown celebrated their first year of marriage together in the “traditional” sense. According to the Bachelor The nation's favorite, the couple decided to honor their relationship with the gifts associated with each year of marriage.

“We continue the traditional anniversary. Believe [the] “First year's work, so our gifts will be paper this year, whatever that means,” Underwood said.
