Christian Pulisic's ex-girlfriend Alexa Melton is retracting a previous statement she made about him allegedly cheating on her while they were together.
Melton apparently hinted that she and the American soccer star had broken up on April 6, after nearly two years of dating, telling a fan in a since-deleted comment that “the man was on the hook before it even ended,” referring to a popular dating app.
While he did not mention Pulisic directly, some fans speculated that he was referring to the footballer.
Melton clarified her comments on Thursday on her Instagram Story, stating that Pulisic did not mislead her and that she had been given “false” information.
“I made some comments about a private matter and they were taken out of context,” he wrote. “I received false information. He is not a cheater. Any narrative beyond that is not mine. Out of respect for Christian and my privacy, I will not speak further on this matter.”
Neither Melton nor Pulisic have publicly confirmed that they have broken up. the independent Pulisic's representatives have been contacted for comment.
In his initial statement about Pulisic's presence at Raya, Melton responded to a comment saying: “This generational mistake will be studied in the coming years.”
“I guess you don't fear God enough. How many like to post their Raya profile?” he added in another Instagram comment.
Pulisic, 27, and the professional golfer, 25, were romantically involved in June 2024, when they were seen together at the US Women's Open golf tournament. Melton also made several appearances at Pulisic's AC Milan matches in Italy, during the club's 125th anniversary event in December 2024.
He confirmed the relationship in his 2024 Paramount+ documentary series.PULISIC, saying that he and Melton connected when he came into her direct messages.
Rumors about Pulisic's love life surfaced in December 2025, when he took to Instagram to shoot down speculation that he was dating actor Sydney Sweeney.
“Fake news guys, let's stop the silly rumor,” he wrote in the comments of a Motivating Sport Instagram post about dating speculation. “Also, please stop with the made up stories about my personal life. I need to hold the sources accountable, it can affect people's lives.”
