Cara Delevingne has revealed she was just eight years old when she got drunk for the first time.

The 32-year-old model and actress, who has previously been candid about her struggles with addiction, shared the revelation in a new interview with The times.

Recalling the experience of being a child and bridesmaid at her aunt's wedding in 2001, Delevigne shared: “I got drunk that day. I was eight years old. What a crazy age to get drunk.

“I woke up at my grandma’s house, in my bedroom, hungover and in a bridesmaid dress.”

Delevingne explained that she had been “running around filling champagne glasses” at the wedding. “I used to think that drugs and alcohol helped me cope, but they didn’t. They kept me sad and very depressed,” she said.

But she has hinted that her childhood was unglamorous and admitted she was never given confidence about her sexuality.

Speaking to Variety At the Met Gala earlier this year, Delevingne opened up about her journey to sobriety and sent an inspiring message to those who are also working to stay sober.

“You’re not alone,” she said. “If I can do it, anyone can. But you have to communicate and be as honest as possible about it, especially with yourself.”

She also explained why she had been so vocal about her past relationship with drugs and alcohol, and how that ultimately led to her recovery.

“I think that's what I've always done with anything in this business,” he said.

“Whether you’re open about anxiety, depression, recovery, or anything else, you just have a duty to talk to people about your struggles, because being in this world isn’t perfect. Nobody’s perfect. So, to be honest, it’s the least I can do.”

In its Fashion In a cover story published in March 2023, Delevingne publicly reflected on her decision to check into rehab in September 2022.

She revealed that her journey to sobriety began when she saw viral photos of herself at an airport, with her fans claiming she looked “disheveled” in the images.
