Calvin Harris has surprised fans with some of the photos he chose to include announcing the birth of his son.
On Monday, the DJ and the 41 -year -old record producer, revealed in a summary of Instagram photos that his wife, Vick Hope, gave birth to his son on July 20.
“My wife is a superhero and I am completely amazed at her primary wisdom! Very grateful. We love you very much Micah,” Harris wrote.
Although he showed photos of himself holding his newborn son, he also included Hope images in a childbirth pool moments after giving birth, as well as his wife's placenta in the carousel. Harris showed the entire organ and then the drying and ground dust process to make pill capsules.
While many commentators expressed their congratulations to the couple, others were not interested in seeing the most graphic details of his wife's birth.
“I was not prepared for the placenta photo,” wrote a social media commentator, while another agreed, writing: “A photo of placenta brother was not needed.”
“The photo of Placenta is exactly what I needed to remind me to remain single and without children for a few more years,” said a third person. “I've never seen it visually, but we love Calvin for that.”
“Placenta and pleasure [sic] The pills were not on my bingo card for today, but that's fine, ”said someone else.
“Greetings Calv that was ruined dinner,” another wrote while another said: “Photo 1 was enough. Why share that photo of placenta? Vile.”
However, others had a different perspective, thanking Harris for normalizing the placenta as part of the delivery process.
Hope and Harris revealed for the first time that they waited for their first child together in May 2025. At that time, Hope spoke live on Radio 1 to tell the listeners that she would go on maternity leave when she presented Country file and the driving time show of the BBC Radio 1 with Katie Thistleton and the former Made in Chelsea Star Jamie Laing.
“I must say that this is my last week. I wanted to share that with you because we have had so lovely in recent weeks,” said Hope.
“That time is coming to an end for a while because I am going to come out of maternity next week,” he said.
Laing added: “You are an incredible friend, an incredible person, and you will be an incredible mother.”
Hope, who joined the Country file The team in March also shared why it has not formally announced its online pregnancy.
“This is not an ad, by the way,” he said. “People keep saying if you are going to announce, are you going to announce? And I say, I am not the king. I do not see the point, it is not for me. I will be honest, I fight with anything that is personal or private.”
Hope and Harris married in September 2023, but have been linked for about 20 years.
