Brittany Mahomes is responding to her detractors after receiving criticism for liking former President Donald Trump's Instagram post.
On August 13, the 78-year-old, who was charged and convicted on 34 counts of first-degree falsifying business records, took to his social media page to promote his campaign as a Republican candidate in the 2024 presidential election. Trump shared an overview of his “Republican Party Platform,” which he participated in with his supporters and a celebrity.
Brittany, the wife of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, was one of the people who read Trump's Instagram post and gave it a “like.” Eagle-eyed netizens spotted the 28-year-old mother's Instagram handle appearing alongside the number of people who favorited the post.
The Chiefs' famed WAG immediately came under fire from a number of internet users, some of whom criticized her for seemingly supporting Trump's 13-point proposal.
Outraged women questioned his motives, while others admitted they were not surprised he was supporting Trump's campaign. Some thought his actions could negatively affect his friendship with Taylor Swift, the Grammy-winning artist who has publicly condemned Trump.
“Well it looks like Brittany can forget about posting with Taylor Swift in the box seats from now on. This could seriously strain their relationship on TikTok,” wrote one user on X, formerly known as Twitter.
A second agreed: “Brittany Mahomes… Taylor Swift will never get back with you.”
Amid the harsh backlash, Brittany issued a statement slamming all adults who had it in their hearts to send hate.
“Honestly to be a hater as an adult you must have some deep-rooted issues that you refuse to heal from childhood,” she wrote on her Instagram Story on August 23. “There’s no reason your brain is fully developed and you hate seeing others do well.”
This isn't the first time Brittany has been the target of online criticism. The former soccer player has been accused of retouching her appearance in photos. Her May 10 Instagram post was met with several rude comments.
“Photoshopped to hell and back lol,” wrote one stern viewer.
A second added: “Photoshopped to DEATH.”
What's more, when Brittany announced her Sports Illustrated Swimsuit debuting in February 2024, her followers took the opportunity to write unfiltered comments about the magazine's decision to use her as a model.
However, despite all the hate, Brittany's supporters have continually expressed their loyalty, appreciation, and admiration for her by defending her in the face of backlash.
In its preview of May 14th Sports Illustrated Swimsuit In an Instagram post, one kind-hearted woman said: “When you can be a working mother, wife and still look this amazing.
“And it’s not just about how amazing you look, it’s about how your confidence comes through in these photos, which is inspiring. Feeling beautiful in our own skin. Confidence is a beautiful thing. Keep winning, Britt,” she added.
