Bridgerton's Claudia Jessie has revealed why she wore the same outfit twice during a press tour for season 3 of the hit show.
The actress has been spotted twice wearing the same Stella McCartney striped suit while promoting the show's third season. She first wore the suit on May 13 for the show's world premiere in New York City, and the second time, she wore the blue ensemble for a May 16 appearance at the late show with Stephen Colbert.
On both occasions, Jessie styled the outfit with different accessories, the first with green heels and the second with black pumps and a gold chain over a casual white T-shirt. Her decision to make the most of her look turned heads, something she addressed in a red carpet interview with Fashion at the show's world premiere.
“I care a lot about being as sustainable as possible, so you'll see a lot of me in this suit,” he told the outlet in a video clip. “So I hope you like it because you're going to see it again.”
He added that he makes a habit of buying secondhand clothes, repairing clothes that need mending and investing in items that will last for years instead of falling apart in a few months.
She is not the first actress to advocate for a more sustainable lifestyle, as Oscar winner Cate Blanchett and Jane Fonda once again wore her clothes on the red carpet.
The former features repeated and altered versions of previous red carpet looks, breathing new life into luxury pieces like the Louis Vuitton ensemble she wore to the Oscars last year. In March of this year, she paired the top with pants for a Louis Vuitton Fashion Week show in Paris.
Meanwhile, Fonda dusted off an old dress of hers for the 2021 Golden Globes, where she received the prestigious Cecil B. DeMille Award, showing that she remained committed to reusing and recycling her clothes.
“A couple of years ago I swore I would never buy new clothes again,” she said in The Ellen DeGeneres Show At the time. “We spend too much money, buy too many things and then get rid of them. We try to develop our identity by shopping, right? We have to stop that. Let's stop all this consumerism.”
“So I had to go through my closet and find something that still fit me that I had worn before, and I found something. “I’m ready,” she added.
At the 2020 Oscars, Fonda also wore a crimson beaded Elie Saab dress that she previously wore at Cannes in 2014.
The first part of the third season of Bridgerton premiered on May 16, while the second part will premiere on June 13.
