Hair transplantation has been an extremely common procedure for a long time, but there is still a certain fear that most people tend to associate with the process. Therefore, if you are someone who is willing to go through the process, here are 5 things you should know before having a hair transplant:

  1. Keep consulting your dermatologist to find out what type of hair transplant works for youThere are two types of hair transplant that you can opt for: Follicular Hair Transplant (FUT) and Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE). You should consult a good dermatologist to know which procedure is best for you based on your needs. A dermatologist will also help set realistic goals and map an appropriate path to success.
  2. Have realistic goalsUndergoing a hair transplant procedure may not mean immediate success. Yes, you heard that absolutely right! According to many leading medical portals, it is imperative to have an extremely realistic point of view from the beginning. Sometimes one process may not be enough and several procedures may have to be opted for to finally obtain the desired result.
  3. Understand the costAn important part of planning the procedure is understanding its cost. The cost of a hair transplant varies from one clinic to another, but what can also be a factor is the number of procedures that must be undergone. Talk to your dermatologist about all possible costs before having your first procedure.
  4. Knowledge about long-term resultsHair transplant results are usually long-lasting, but as mentioned above, the success of the procedure can vary depending on several factors, such as age, health problems, and most importantly, your previous hair loss pattern.
  5. Stop consuming alcohol and smokingIf you have decided to have a hair transplant, then it is essential that you stop drinking alcohol and smoking. According to reports from different reputable health sites on the Internet, alcohol and cigarettes can cause problems with anesthetic medications used during surgery and can also increase bleeding and bruising. The nicotine present in cigarettes will constrict the blood vessels of the body and hamper regulated blood flow to the scalp, which can be detrimental in this process.
