Billy Joel has disclosed what was to fall in love with his second wife, Christie Brinkley.
In the second part of the HBO documentary of the singer “piano man”, Billy Joel: And so he leavesThe two former discussed what their relationship was like when they started out.
The former couple met for the first time in 1983 while on vacation in St. Barts. After discovering that both lived in New York City, they made plans to keep in touch and were on their first date to a Beach Boys concert.
“Here I am dating this beautiful supermodel and … I? “I wrote many songs for her. It was a muse.”
He continued: “It was like being a teenager again. Experimenting those same emotions he had when he discovered for the first time romance and love.”
Brinkley said that while his “whirlwind” was “very fun” during the first years, he said the turning point was in 1989 when Joel launched his single “I go to extreme.” When describing the song, Brinkley said she reflected her husband “Boomeranging between being a man of tortured family and artist,” since he slipped away in the middle of the night to drink.
That same year, the singer of “Vienna” presented a fraud of $ 90 million and breach of the demand for contract against his former manager, Frank Weber. To recover the money, Joel had to adjust his tour, which further promoted the wedge between Brinkley and his daughter Alexa.
“I was in a relationship with someone who cared deeply. But I couldn't be at home. I couldn't be with my family. Brinkley has married four times, but remains the closest to Joel and named his new memory, “Uptown Girl”, after the successful 1983 song inspired by her.
She has also opened about being with Joel. Brinkley told him Page six Earlier this year: “To be clear, I never wanted to finish things with Billy,” he said. “I read all the self -help books I could find … we went to see a series of psychiatrists, psychologists and other doctors.”
Brinkley also said that she and Joel “were probably twin souls. It was an incredible moment of my life.”
