Drinking tea in the morning has been a much-loved tradition in Indian homes for decades. Many start the day with a cup of tea, whether it be milk tea, lemon tea, black tea or green tea. However, excessive tea consumption can be harmful to your health.

But adding a small amount of carom seeds (ajwain), commonly used in Indian cuisine, can significantly enhance the health benefits of tea.

Talking to Local18, Yachana Sharma, dietitian at Indira Gandhi Hospital and Medical College (IGMC) in Shimla, said that carom seeds are very beneficial. Its consumption can increase immunity and alleviate problems related to gastritis.

Ways to consume carom seeds

Dietitian Yachana Sharma pointed out that there are numerous ways to consume carom seeds, each offering different health benefits. These include carom tea, eating raw carom seeds, consuming roasted carom seeds, mixing them with jaggery or drinking water after soaking the seeds.

In many Indian households, roasted carom seeds are traditionally consumed to relieve an upset stomach or colds.
