Beloved TV chef receives prestigious award at London event


Dame Mary Berry, the much-loved food writer and television personality, has been honored with an Outstanding Achievement Award at a media event in central London.

The award, presented at the Tric (Radio and Television Industries Club) Christmas lunch on Friday, recognized his significant contributions to broadcasting and his lasting influence on the British public.

The 90-year-old is best known for her role as a judge on The Great British Bake Off during his tenure at the BBC from 2010 to 2016.

Her recent work includes a series of popular BBC cookery shows such as Mary Berry's Christmas in the Highlands, Mary's foolproof dinnersand Maria makes Christmas.

His most recent series, Mary at 90: a lifetime of cookingissued in autumn.

Tric's annual fundraiser also celebrated 100 years of television, featuring five long-running British television shows and honoring the teams behind them.

bbc drama doctor who received recognition as the longest-running science fiction series, while ITV Coronation Street It was recognized as the longest-running soap opera in the world.

Three more BBC programs were held: Children's Program Pedro Azul; summary of viewer opinions Points of view; and football highlights show Match of the day.

Other recognitions include the appointment of Charlotte Graham-Cumming as Tric President for 2026.

Hosted by club president Dan Walker, who presents Channel 5 News and presents Classic FM's Breakfast Show, the event raised funds for women's domestic abuse charity Refuge and children's mental health charity Bright Young Dreams.

The annual Tric Awards will take place on June 23, 2026.
